My Actifit Report Card: October 29 2020

Thursday.

It rained a lot today. Not the pouring kind of rain, just a consistent drizzle with some occasional quick showers in between.

No need to skip the walk into the woods and no shortage of things to talk about either. There's some fungi, a googly friend, an intimate hug and even something cat related to show to you today.

Let's start with some mushrooms.

I came across this huge old and dying beech tree that was overgrown with bundles of white and slimy shrooms.

According to my quick research it must be mucidula mucida, commonly known as the porcelain fungus.

They looked quite slimy and not very edible, allthough apparently they are. They also have strong antibiotic and fungicidal properties making them useful in both traditional and modern medicine.

Enough fungiducation. Let's quickly talk about my social life. I met Lenny from yesterday's post again. @mipiano noticed how worried he looked and suggested he might be freaking out because he had no mask... so I brought him one... and indeed, he looks a lot happier now.

I also promised @ewkaw I'd give him a hug, but everything was wet and nasty today, and also according to the new normal, good friends aren't supposed to hug anyway. Well, that's really just a lame excuse, but still... no hug for Lenny today.

I saw some other trees hugging, though.

Usually it's the same kind of tree you'll see in such an intimate embrace, not two different species joined like this. Interesting enough to see from all sides and find another surprise.

On the backside, hidden in a little crevice, right where the two trees touch, there was another one of those painted pebbles.

And looking at the underside of that stone, a painting of a kitty chilling under a tree... a purrfect little surprise.
