My Actifit Report Card: December 13 2020

Sunday.

No sunshine, though.

I struggled with a lack of patience and I felt an undirected anger creeping up. To prevent that anger from escaping its containment and throwing itself at the next best subject I decided it was time for a long walk in the early afternoon today.

A long walk along a straight line, for roughly 5km until I would reach the sand pit I discovered on an extensive Wednesday walk, back when the weather used to be a lot nicer.

Upon entering the forest I was immediately greeted by a cheerful surprise. Somebody has put up a bunch of Christmas ornaments on a random tree next to the trail into the woods. Awesome stuff.

The anger started to settle and I set off to walk my self into a trance like state. Four point something kilometers along a straight line in a fast pace with a long stride. That's my medicine when things get tough.

By the time I reached the sand pit the anger had withdrawn itself. Since it's Sunday, the sand pit wasn't operating and I could finally sneak in to look at the place up close. Exploration is an excellent stimulation for the mind.

The water in the pit has a beautiful turquoise tint to it. It's caused by small clay particles that get emulsified in the water while the sand is being dug out.

I continued exploring the compound and the enclosed forest next to it. I startled a sleeping owl, I can't even remember when I last saw an owl in the wild, probably decades ago. And then I walked into a sizeable family of wild boar, maybe 15 or 20 of them. They immediately ran off, but I think I was more scared then them in the moment. Obviously I didn't get any pictures of either incident.

But before I made my way back home, with a refreshed mind and fully at ease with my temper again, I made another unlikely discovery.

A little group of mushrooms growing in a rather unusual spot, in the middle of a pile of sand.

Thanks for your time!

Adorning a tree in the forest with Christmas balls could only have been a genius with a big heart! 😍

Great exploration and beautiful mushrooms, but the curiosity about what made you build up your rage remained with me... great choice to walk to blow it off! 👍

rage is a strong word... I think I managed to take my walk-walking-medicine in time to prevent that undirected anger from turning into uncontrolled rage... but that's just bickering about the choice of words.

Dealing with a challenge that requires an almost infinite amount of patience sometimes turns into a moment of frustration and once it has started heating up it gets tough to find a way to ease the tension again...

So far I've been avoiding to put the topic up on the blockchain, I feel like it doesn't belong here.

...

My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it's been getting a lot worse this year. During the end of the first lockdown she fell and broke her hip and ever since she's been released from the hospital I've basically moved in with her to take care of her needs.

I'm her only family within the country and I love her from the bottom of my heart. Getting her into institutionalized care, especially during this pandemic madness, is not an option I would consider and so I find myself in Don Quixote's shoes sometimes when every day feels like groundhog day and I am just struggling to maintain some normalcy for grandma while my own life has to step back.

Her bones have healed well and physically she's recovered and doing great again, but the temporary immobilization has taken a huge mental toll and she has lost most of her independence during the time.

I'm not sure how this will all pan out but I'll try to give my best as long as I can.

Oh @fraenk, I know that @amico.sports asked but I was as well a bit concerned whay you was in that feeling of rage...or pain I would say. But I didn't dare to ask. So I took now the freedom the read this answer to his question.

I just can't skip now my comment. You are a caring person with so good heart as far I could conclude until now. But this is an extraordinary loving gesture you can do to your grandma and although it is difficult to see sometimes, she somewhere knows and feels how much you love her and everything you are doing.

Skip this paragraph
(I loved my grandmothers as well, one fell down, broke her femur and passed away 😢 Other fell as well, broke her arm and passed away 😢. I couldn't even say goodbye to her as we just moved to Spain and that happened in one day.. This grandmother had Alzheimer, and it was a bit difficult. But I know they both are in better place now and they are with me, protecting me in some way.)

The patience and love, that you already have a plenty of, is the only way and you know it. And you are doing very well! I wish you all the strength needed for this 🤗🤗

Thanks for your kind words @mipiano.

There's tough days and there's good days. Eventually I'll be thankful to have had all of them.

You will be (you are), I am sure. In general, we all have to learn to be more thankful for all the days life serves us.

Thanks for the openness on such a personal topic and sorry if I was too direct, dear @fraenk. 🙏

Life always puts us through trials that we consider very difficult, but love is the force that governs the entire universe and you are applying it very well! 😍
