Weight management with a professional - My Actifit Report Card: January 26 2026

Since the beginning of this month, I’ve been working with a friend who is a dancer and also an instructor, asking her to guide me once a week with exercise and weight management.
Over the past few months, my weight hadn’t been going down and I kept feeling heavy. I found myself wondering whether I needed to increase my activity more, or if this was just something I had to accept because of age. I cut down my dinners quite a lot, feeling like my digestion couldn’t keep up, but my body still felt heavy, and it started to feel like a negative cycle.
Around that time, I read a blog post my friend had written about body shaping in your 40s. Seeing how bright, energetic, and close in age she is, I began to feel that I wanted to learn from her how to stay healthy and energized through moving my body. Having experienced group coaching about life and business last year, I already knew how powerful it can be to have a professional who fits to me walk alongside me, and that also gave me a push.
I’m now in the third week. I had been told that my weight can increase at first but there’s no need to panic. During the first two weeks, with socializing and my period, my weight did go up by a few hundred grams and stayed, but unlike before, I didn’t panic or force myself to eat less or make strange adjustments. On the very first day, I decided to move my body properly and eat a full dinner in the evening, and surprisingly, I didn’t feel full before going to bed at all — in fact, I was even eating more overall.
My strength training isn't intense workouts on a mat. Instead, I’m learning exercises that match my level and are easy to turn into a habit, and I fit them into my daily life and work in small chunks. Even videos labeled “easy” on YouTube turned out to be too hard for me, which was the reason I couldn't do daily. But once I adjusted to my own level, I’ve managed to keep going for two and a half weeks without a break — and I’m so happy that I'm slowly leveling up ☺️
And then today, my weight suddenly dropped, which made me want to write this post. Moving my body seems to be bringing my energy back as well. Administrative tasks and residency applications, for example, are getting done at a speed that reminds me of ten years ago. I’m really glad I didn’t slip into a quiet “I guess this is just how it is at my age” acceptance mode, the kind often associated with trendy notions of a carefully restrained lifestyle.
My daily walks are also going well, despite the cold season. There will probably be ups and downs, but maybe I can aim for 55 kg and feeling ultra energetic by spring…? I’ll keep going 💪
