The Old Mine, or rather the Museum of Science and Art in Wałbrzych, is located in the old hard coal mine "Julia". Today we went on a little sightseeing, despite the fact that we also have an abundance of mines where we live. It was definitely not the first mine I visited, but maybe thanks to this I can form a more substantiated opinion about it.

Entering the mine, we are greeted with a nice, modern view, in which you can not miss restaurant umbrellas, tempting with a cold beer. The restaurant itself is also modern and tempting.

Muzeum z kolei na samym wejściu prezentuje gablotę z przekrojem kopalni. To makieta, zdjęcie zza szybki.

At the very entrance, the museum presents a showcase with a cross-section of the mine. This is a mockup, a photo from behind the glass. A big plus for Samsung for automatically removing glare.

Scena rodem z PRL - stare miejsca pracy. Obowiązkowe popielniczki z petami i te telefony.

A scene straight from the People's Republic of Poland - old workplaces. Mandatory pet ashtrays and those phones.

Poniżej gabloty z sali świętowania - górnicze kufle i talerze, używane podczas barbórek.

Below, showcases from the celebration hall - mining mugs and plates, used during parties.

Możemy pooglądać też całą maszynerię, zabytkową, a jednak działającą do końca funkcjonowania kopalni.

We can also see the entire machinery, historic, but still working until the end of the mine's operation.

No i wreszcie najciekawsze - czyli zjazd w dół.

And finally, the most interesting - that is, the ride down. Contrary to the Silesian mines, where we descend much lower (Guido - 350 meters!), Here the excursion wall is located only at a depth of 15 m, which has its advantages. For example, you can go down the stairs, although for mine novices, going down a real shaft to a great depth is a real attraction.

There is a pleasant 10 degrees downstairs, it is worth remembering about appropriate clothes, especially for children.

After a short but interesting tour of the underground, we enter the observation tower, where we can admire the picturesque location of the mine among the mountains.

Podsumowanie?

Summary? This is not the first mine I visit, and compared to others, it has relatively few attractions (e.g. no flow through the mine canal). However, the museum is nice and interesting. If someone has not seen the mine yet, he will surely be pleased. I personally do not have to go underground, because it is not very pleasant for me.

I have been to a stone mine once when I was around 14-15 years old and that was my first and last visit to the mine. After that, I have never explored any kind of mine thoroughly...I must say the museum part is very interesting... I hope you have enjoyed your day...
