Mushrooms and Funky Fungi: My Actifit Report Card: May 29 2020

Message from coffee machine repairer to pick up repaired machine. Chance to walk Rocky Creek on the way home. Never walked the track but crossed it a lot.

First part is antarctic beech rain forest - not a lot left in Sydney. Creek running quite hard after the week's rain. Found some striking fungi

Never seen stuff like this. Almost like it came out of a chemical lab. There is a clue - sewer lines run along the creek. Heavy rain and lids pop up with plenty of toilet paper evidence. My guess is the fungi thrive on urea.

Hesitate to show the orange one as it is not in focus.

Found this mushroom on the way out - quite poisonous I understand

Other side of the road was more dry scheophyll bush with eucalyptus and banksia

Did not find any orchids but did find a few summer orchid leaves.

Not sure what this flower is but I love the explosion of flower out of the bud. It could be an escapee from the gardens above

I do know this one - pink wax flower

The track went through casuarina bush - orchids find that too acid. Did find a few more fungi - large

And small.

Autumn is a great flower time - small flowers in a rosette cluster

And in a column cluster

Did walk back down to the creek and the beech rainforest - did find orchid leaves as soon as I got below the casuarina trees.

And where was I. Rocky Creek which runs to Middle Harbour. Got to say I would mot eat the fish caught there. They say it is safe between the Harbour Bridge and the sea but I have seen the toilet paper.

Frustrating afternoon inching ahead on Internet stuff feeling like a rabbit in the headlights.

Did some tidying up of trees growing into cables coming into the house
