Cloudy start to day 5 of Border to Border cycle ride. Riding from wheat country town of Gilgandra
First check point at 25 kms. I am keen to go further for a coffee break. Good thing as car would not start - flat battery.
Called roadside assistance and waited 40 minutes or so. Bright yellow RUOK car drove by the other way. Wife says "Too bad he did not stop to see if we were OK". 5 minutes later arrives this car
The young man he could not go by without stopping to ask if we were OK. Lovely man and a great ambassador for RUOK. Roadside assist man got the car started and my wife drove off to Dubbo to get a new battery. I cycled
Lunch stop in Dubbo and then headed off for the 50 kms to Wellington. Copped a flat tyre on the edge of town. Mu wife came back so I could put on a new tyre. Traffic was crazy as weekend stuff began. I was ready to give up. Motor race at Bathurst this weekend is part of the traffic
Kept pushing. One more rest break and one more hill before the run down to Wellington
A big day made easier by cooler temps and tailwinds
