My Actifit Report Card: January 18 2021
Not often are we in Hunter Valley house on Monday morning. Woken by sounds of farm workers chatting. They are installing netting over the two rows of chardonnay next to my house. A bit surprising as harvest is only a few days away.
My wife has a lunch for a friend's farewell in Wollombi. My thought is to use the time to look for orchids as I know few of the people who will be there. Step one - do the week's shopping in the local community. This is a green zone and no masks needed.
Dropped my wife off at her lunch venue and drove up Yango Creek Road into Yengo NP. This park was devastated in the 2019 fires with a super hot fire. The eucalyptus is recovering though the canopy is not established yet. Down below the ground cover is going crazy loving open access to light and good rains this summer.
Walked a few tracks - plenty of fringe lilies which get triggered by smoke
One just opening
Drove past Quart Pot Creek track where I have seen orchids on last visit. Went all the way to Finchley Trig lookout. Amazing views west to Mt Yengo - the big one
There is a 300 degree view from the lookout. In the far distance is Gospers Mountain. This is where the devastating fires started on October 26, 2019. Marked with an arrow
Did get back to walk Quart Pot track - this looks like it was remade in a big way - probably after the fire. 2 metres deep cut sort of remade = disaster for any orchids that may have been growing on the side of the track which is where I have seen them before.

Tough drive home - walker was a sleepy driver.
Trade action: Replaced a bunch of Europe stocks assigned. ABBN.SW, CA.PA, CBK.DE, DBK.DE, ENGI.PA. Bought COFF.L, CS.PA, EDF.PA, GLE.PA and TEF.MA. Fixed a trading error by buying back TKA.DE. Wrote covered calls on all Euopean holdings.
