Woke to a fabulous day with clear blue sky. Perfect day to visit the local wildflower garden which is home to a rare orchid. Was thinking of the lazy option - drive. Pushed that back and got on the bike. It is only 6 kms away but pretty hilly.
These flowers are only 4 to 5 mm across. I had some help on where to go to find the orchid. Good thing too as garden is 163 ha = 650 acres.
Saw this big ant - it was quick
Did find the orchids in the suggested spot
Brittle midge orchid - genoplesum baueri
Only found two plants - there are only 13 known sites between Ulladulla and Port Stephens. Lucky to have two within 9 kms from home.
Walked the top track circle and found bonnet orchids
A lovely pea flower
Not seen this pink flower before
Found quite a few variegated hyacinth orchids higher up the hill
Park includes a great paved cycled track - cycled a bit and walked a bit down side tracks
A pair of yellow tailed black cockatoos where I parked bike - crunching sheoak seeds
A lot more dipodium variegatum further down the hill
Small monitor lizard enjoying the sun
Mushroom sighting feels like autumn
This one the size of a fist - will open out the size of a dinner plate
Baby coming along
Walked down Mueller Track for a bit - love the rock side location for this hyacinth orchid
So a 3 orchid day. A great spot for easy walking on sealed tracks and to ride and walk side tracks
Did a little garden work - never stop raking leaves from trees next door.
Dinner: Beef fillet Philadelphia style
Potato roesti - Swiss style. Reminds me of years working in Switzerland. Fresh garden beans were yum.
Trade action: Closed HD bull call spreads at max profit. Sold DD part position. Bought WMT with HD profits. Bought 13/17/11 call spread risk reversal on CCJ. A bunch of covered calls written and a few naked puts.
