Another grey day with rain forecast in storms later. Did the accounts and headed out by car. Plan was to check on genoplesium baueri on north side of NP. Storm was on that side - so I went east to explore West Head
First track was hoping to see Parsons Band orchid - sadly they have mowed the edges of the track where it prospers. Kept going as there is a segment of rain forest 3 kms on.
Quite a few fringe lilies. There is a clue here. Big thunderstorm threatening - so I turned back. Lesson learned - will not find orchids on a track that has been mowed.
Drove up to a point where I could access rain forest - spider action shows the solemn sky
The lesson of the fringe lily played out on the next track. Track burned in a hazard reduction burn - fringe lilies germinate with smoke. No orchids for ages down this track
An ancient aboriginal art site
Did find a few corunastylis past flowering and the promise of greenhoods. Walked across the top of Resolute Beach and West Head Beach.
A few signs of orchids higher up the slope.
Photos will come later - upload speeds too slow here to be patient
