Friday morning broke to a hazy day with the smell and haze of hazard reduction burning. The ride today was along the rail trail toward Wangaratta and then on the trail up to Beechworth
View back to Mt Buffalo. The weekend is about catching up with friends - a few snaps
Victoria has great rail trails - this segment from.Bright to Wangarrata - sealed better than a Cessnock road
A few more friends coming up to Taylor's Gap - tandem - one bike and two friends
Showing a little pain up front
Lady in red I cycled from Darwin to Coral Bay in 2015 - over 2500 kms - friends are made out there
This Murray to Mountains rail trail is fab - all reachable by sealed quality rail trail
Sign does not mention it is all uphill to Beechworth - where Ned Kelly was captured and imprisoned.
A lovely town with places for coffee and cake
We kept climbing to Stanley home of nuts and apples and a nice pub
Chestnut orchards near Stanley
Steep downhill from there. I did stop to look for orchids - found just one in seed
My body went into revolt - no electrolyte on the ride - lunch too big plus some body stuff. Was hard work down the hill. That is what training is for = get through the tough shit.
Nice ride and longest for 2021 at 80 kms with some climbing
Was hoping to catch up with friends for drinks but they had early dinner planned. Tomorrow. We made a simple bbq dinner in our camp and had quiet evening - it is needed
