My Actifit Report Card: April 27 2021

Birds were active early and traffic noise on Lismore road was hard to avoid. Took our time to get moving. Plan was to go to Aldi store in Lismore to stock up on wine we like before we crossed into Queensland - no liquor license for Aldi north of the border.

From Lismore we drove north up to Nimbin - hemp capital. Town feels kind of decrepit especially in mid morning after a holiday weekend

Love this old boy on his white bike all dressed in white - matched his hair

Turned off to Mount Warning turn. A few crossings of the Tweed River. Was hoping the road closed warnings applied to cars only and not walkers

Not to be and we had to turn back - nice view of the mountain and Wollumbin NP. Next time

Zoom in to see a unique eucalyptus - ramrod straight with light green top and white gum bark.

Looking down the Tweed River from the main causeway - study how the December floods pushed everything down with the flow.

Spent time looking for a picnic area - eventually found one in South Tweed Heads

Interesting walk from there through the rain forest and onto estuary mangrove boardwalk

Hard to believe this is the same river we saw tumbling down from Mount Warning

Some flower action - a pea flower I have not seen before

Did the loop down to Bora circle - a clearing in the forest where the Aboriginal people ran initiation ceremonies = sacred ground

The clearing is about half an acre

Welcome to Bundjalung country

There is a tree fern nursery here - this staghorn fern growing in rest area

From here we made our way to our firend's place at Runaway Bay. Took the dogs for a walk

Scored two rainbows

Fab view down to the tall buildings of Surfers Paradise

We had a great chin wag and fab dinner. Thanks to our friend Ann with all her Gold Coast stories
