My Actifit Report Card: August 25 2021

A late start. Each day as this farce goes on the the less I want to do anything. I did push out to do the shopping - photo of the orchids flowering where my car is parked at home

The shops were horrible - too many people - I just hate this mask wearing and check in shit. We have the chance of a truck blockade next week. So I shopped for two weeks worth. 2nd shop was a little easier with a different mix of customers.

Packed some stuff away and then went to walk a different track in Garigal NP.

I have walked to the Cascades before and was hoping to find waxlip or white fingers orchids in the grassy section on the other side of the creek. Distance marker suggests a walk of over 8 kms if I walk anywhere the other side.

I have seen orchids on the top section but not expecting any up here - too steep. I did check the side tracks a bit.

Somehow I got a photo of these to work in low light - camera does not like the long target to focus on. It wants wide.

Cloudy day and pea flower is reticent to open

Spider grevillea does not have open or close mode. Crossed the two creek crossings and got wet feet - grassy section is just beyond

Found the first waxlip orchid on the downhill side. Introduced two lady walkers to them - I got one hooked on trying to get good photos of flower smaller than a thumbnail

The ladies found more on the other side of the track

This one unfurling. From here I turned onto Frenchs Creek track which I have not walked before

Nice waterfall at the track crossing. The creek goes under the rocks here. Track follows the creek to its source in Belrose

I did find the other orchid I was hoping for - white fingers orchid

Caladenia catenata - I call it the white swan orchid. I walked a long way on this track until it turned into a footpath

Found sun orchids as the path climbed away from the creek.

This little flower caught my eye. It has 4 petals like a boronia but it is a soft touch of pink - almost white.

Was surprised to see a waxlip orchid here but it is the same envirnment of open space, grassy area and a sandy base.

And there were two flowers

This is a grevillea - each flower is maybe 3 mm across. Back to the main track for the path back.

This is also a new find - 5 petals makes me think wax flower

Had to stop for this iridescent tipped pink delight

Turned into a huge walk. Great to find two orchids in flower and one showing promise. Next time I will walk in from the other side to see what might be there

While I was out I got a message from my wife saying she was at the GP. Here is the interchange

The bush is my doctor. It is where I get my head sorted too. That long walk got me home late.

Update from the GP visit - my wife got the AZ jab. She has been holding off until there was more data about her particular cohort. She is the last in her cohort with the GP to get it. She was suffering the shivers all night.

Was not long before dinner plans were made - pasta Alfredo my way.

Start with a roux and add in garlic and spring onion. Turn the roux into a bechamel - I used milk, ricotta and parmesan cheese. Add in chopped fried bacon and mushroom. I cook those separately so the bechamel does not split

Toss in the cooked pasta and serve with ground black pepper. Yum.
