My Actifit Report Card: September 15 2021
Another late night and some weird dreams early on. The struggle just goes on and on. Was a clear day and good for a bike ride down the hill. My almanac told me the end of season was coming for a specific orchid.
I went to have a look on a track I have not been on since lockdown began. And there they were within 5 metres of the start of the track
Pterostylis curta - blunt tipped orchid
Side on view
Found a few painted stones with a hashtag on the back. This one got moved
Love the colouring on this one
Small gnat orchid - cyrtostylis reniformis
These have been flowering for quite some weeks. These are the last flowers.
New location for the painted stone
Found one more pterostylis curta and then turned around. Wanted to walk the other loop to check on a few orchids
Love this view of the secret location.
Golden skink. Rode back to start of the lower loop up from the water.
Flower spikes just emerging on this rock orchid - dockrilla linguiformis
A few more days to go. I have one at home. I will know when to go back. This lizard was not keen to move but did pose well.
The next orchid helped solve an ID challenge - the plant has two flowers
That tells me it is caladenia carnea and not fuscata.
I saw quite a few going up the hill - pinks and whites but only one with multiple flowers
There is quite a bit of variability
And a close up
Next step - check the flying ducks. It took a while to find them as the front plant had been knocked down.
Luckily not broken and it stood up again with some support low down. Caleana major. Onto the cross track half way up the hill. This is the same section I walked from the top last time
Pea flowers against the light worked well. Next target was bearded orchids I saw last time - hope they are open
4 plants here with two somewhat open. Dorsal sepal is still down which makes it hard to ID.
Side on with the lack of tape coming off the labellum suggests to me it is calochillus paludosus
As far as I can see there are no eyes looking back at me.
Reached the turn to go back down the hill. There were some buds just past the turn going up which I had missed coming down. I went to look.
I found one and it is flowering. See the eyes and the tape = calochilus robertsonii. Time to head down.
Did see a few more buds going down till the rainforest - this little yellow flower caught my eye. Size of a US penny.
Last walk I saw one of these on the way down - a few more caladenia carnea to enjoy.
I tried the toothpick method to straighten this one out but awkward wanted to stay that way
Also a mix of colours among the 4 plants flowering
So it was a successful mission with 5 orchids fully in flower and 2 close to ready. Bike ride is one I like but I do not like the lockdown traffic - 3 arseholes passed me on one blind corner.
As for the rest of the day. A little gardening. Some IM work inching forward on an email launch I am running. Also did a bit of listening to some niche sites stuff.
Staying out of markets with the nerves about rising inflation. I will be reducing exposures on each options cycle.
Dinner: Salmon sous vide
