Late Viewing for Flying Duck Orchids : My Actifit Report Card: November 25 2021
Another bleak and rainy day. Lockdown and weather are getting to me. Frittered the morning away. Did a bit of garden tidy up. Pushed out to ride and walk when rain eased off
Walked a track not walked for a while with a view to find if the flying duck orchids at the end of the track are opening this year. First opener is a bonnet orchid - known location but not flowering = orchid for the day
Two flowers - bonnet orchid
A budding version a bit further down
Cryptostylis erecta
A bit of yellow burst out of the bud on the right
Found a flying duck orchid higher up the track than seen before
Caleana major
Hyacinth orchid budding
One more further down the track

Some grand trees. I tramped all over looking for the flying ducks this end - no joy.
Large tongue orchid found on the way back in a new location
Wallaby did not stand still long enough for a great photo.
Ride done. Walk done. Orchid found - 3 flowering types.
Dinner: My wife cooked Massaman Beef. I did the rice.

This weekend will be my task to find some more leaves to photograph as well. As long as there are some colorful ones out there. I wish we had some more orchids here in Germany.

I have tramped a few fields looking in Germany - only about 75 varieties my research showed. We have 1750 in Australia. I can reach 75 on my bicycle from home
Ok, I have to up my research here - not aware that we have so many at all. For me, that was somethings from the tropics or warm places. Did learn something. Thanx
