Bonnet Orchids Season : My Actifit Report Card: November 27 2021
Another rainy morning - sure over this. I just want to get out on my bike for a long ride. Pottered around all the day doing this and that. Just drifting time away.
Went to walk with raincoat and umbrella and boots on the local track - south side. First up is a bonnet orchid budding
Bonnet orchid - new opener
Spider action
Stages of opening
Bonnet orchid and spider web action
Spider has its home inside the bonnet
Walked further down the track and found the bonnet orchids open against a rock face
Hyacinth orchid on its way in a new location lower down the hill than previously seen
A few more
New bonnet orchids further down the hill
Closer in - 3 or 4 plants
A cluster of rose hyacinth orchids further down the hill than previous years
Long walk along the track before the next hyacinth orchid budding
Close up - dipodium variegatum
Love the rugged purple
Dipodium variegatum suffering a fungal infection
Walked the loop to Gwydir Avenue for first time. Steep track looking across to Wahroonga side
Not a lot of orchid evidence but did find a seeded bearded orchid
Love the white and detail
Context photo - first walk this far. It is a nice walk albeit a bit steep but not really for orchids
Dinner: Roast chicken and veges

Went walking without Fitbit - at least 10,000 steps. Walked 5,000 steps on Actifit tracking before getting home. 3,900 steps done on Fitbit before and after.
You do love your orchid walks. I hope the Covid situation betters soon and I can also visit friends in Ozzy land again. Then I will look out more for what you share here. The little plants on the side of the path. The flowers of the many kinds. You really seem to know all the different flowers.
Do you use an app or with the book? Greatest respect not only for the walking ;-)
Thanks. I have a big book with 1750 orchids described. As I have been locked down for 5 months, I already know everything I will see around here. But I have found a new orchid every single day for 5 months
Yes, the lockdown. The idea is to learn another language or instrument, expanding the brain's capacity. At first, I thought I would get to do all the stuff that I meant to do for so long and never got around to doing. Then the company demanded so much attention that it was the opposite. No time for photography and lots of things did not get done. Life just got somewhat normal and then well another variant has been found - not that I need another lockdown but I fear we will need to adapt and incorporate this into our lives. Who knows whats it will bring us.
Cheers - enjoy the rest of the Sunday
