Hornsby Heights Orchids : December 5 2023

Got to say my patience for this move is wearing thin. We have moved into a place where there are heaps more people around - not my people either. Access to the bush is a whole lot more work. And there is lots of traffic any time one chooses to drive. And the box unpacking and breaking down is interminable. Had planned to clear our parking spot - that did not happen. Did retrieve two boxes out of storage. Did get some wiring sorted for radio. Did get shopping and did go for a walk in the bush

Tacked on a walk in Hornsby Heights after the electronics shopping - saw these large flowers from afar - lilies escaped from a garden up the hill

Bonnet orchid on a side of the track not seen before not far from the start of the walk

Nice cluster - cryptostylis erecta

Pea flower with attendant bug(s)

Wattle flower - a few left

Purple fan flower

Epacris pulchella - NSW coral heath flower - a tad late

New foliage on the banksia serratum

Goodenia. The bud at the back is in focus - too bad - it has more features

Walked the loop back toward the road as I knew the tongue orchids were that side last year - found this cluster of bonnet orchids

The tongue orchids were directly behind - cryptostylis subulata

Took a photo of this one budding and noticed the long antennae behind - each time I moved around the critter moved - tis a grasshopper

Hard to get focus on a thing 4mm long that keeps moving

Found the dipodium variegatum on the way back pretty well where it was last year

Took a narrow cut through between the two tracks I walked - found the 4th orchid of the day - horned orchid - orthoceras strictum. First time find on this track. Flower not developed enough for a front on photo

Walked under the powerlines a bit - pale flax lily

A few conesticks in different states - this one a little dishevelled

Did the shopping on the way back. Each trip out requires some thinking about what route to take

Some big progress in the apartment - my wife was out buying a desk and chair for her office space

Some order emerging in the cabinet in that space - and wool made it into tubs from boxes

Laundry press installed in the spare bathroom. Space is at a premium. I noted most of the space in the cabinet in the study while I was out is gone

It is a game of inches
