Bondi Beach lunch trumps damp Gordon walk : May 1 2025

A May Day morning - raining again. Lots of weird dreams. A different day lining up as we are meeting friends in the iconic Bondi Icebergs surf club.

The club is on the south end of Bondi Beach - fab views looking north. Copped a huge shower of rain as we walked up to the club

Surf was vigorous. We watched two surfers try to paddle out. They spent 20 minutes but could not reach the surf waves. Good news is they gave up before they drowned. Lunch was good - got to say most of the menu is over-priced. Was my first visit and it is not on the list to go back. The view is not worth a 50% premium on prices

Was well short of steps when we got home. Was hoping to walk Blackbutt Creek to find orchids. Went with the umbrella. Rained too much so the walk was cut

Became a Gordon walk - this house just up from the golf course sold in the last two weeks

With the house set back they have a chance of building two houses. Will more likely become a boundary to boundary megalith with a pool and more than one family

We have an election this week. One house showing a poster. I like the sentiment - not left, not right, just forward. We need a lot of that maybe not in this constituency but for the country

Going with the election theme - we have an independent running - she grew up around here. She has been bought off by the greenie billionaire who is making a matzah selling renewable energy. The so called Green Teals - they will screw the country faster than the incumbents

Did curtail the idea of walking the bush - rained hard - glad I had umbrella. Blue sky breaking above the church

The rainy weather does give good cloud photos

Last of the election posters. This lady is taking over from the long time Coalition MP. He picked a lady to succeed him - she is not exactly from these parts.

Good news is I do not have a vote. Will be surprised if this electorate moves away from the incumbent. That said, the demographic has changed dramatically in the last few years. It is no longer a WASP home owner place - lots of immigrant renters

While we did have a big lunch, there was a vote for dinner - made Chinese stir-fried rice - quick when the rice is already cooked
