When a short walk is still too long πΆββοΈ

We're currently staying at Mum's place on route to... a bunch of other places, and today I seem to have acquired a head cold.
Not a crazy thing to have happen when we've been moving a lot and sleeping in different beds, but I best find a way to take regular, deep restful breaks wherever I am, or my body is just going to do it for me.
Today it rained, a lot. From breakfast til after lunch, it rained enough that I didn't even want to go outside.
So, once the rain cleared mid afternoon we headed out, the three of us, to a nearby body of water to walk along the foreshore.
It was pretty, prettier than I remembered, but the path was much shorter than we expected. So, we went in search of a park that Mum had heard of that I'd never been to.
Google Maps showed it was a 21 minute walk along quiet streets. And it was straightforward enough, but instead of enjoying the view and then walking back to the car, Mum asked us to "come back and pick her up".
That is to say, she is not as fit as she would like and overestimated her physical capacity again.
Meanwhile, I was feeling it too. The cool, rainy weather had transformed into hot, steamy weather; much more humid than I expect this far south (away from the equator).
And the yoga nidra break I'd taken before lunch had only provided so much fuel. I walked back to the car with Brad, since Mum was totally content on her own, but once we got home, I needed to veg out and talk to no one again for a while.
But it was nice to walk somewhere new, somewhere with wealthy homes, and quiet streets, in an area I'd been aware of for most of high school but never visited.
Now, to rest some more but tomorrow is another day that might see me totally healthy again π

Hope you feel better soon Caroline.
Thanks, Adam π
It is a pleasure to read about your day at your mother's house, where memories and the present intertwine. Your reflection on health is profound and relevant; we often forget that well-being is essential to enjoying our adventures.
Rain and change of plans are metaphors for life itself: sometimes the road shortens, and our limitations remind us that humility is essential. Exploration and calm can coexist, and your decision to seek a moment of disconnection is wise.
I hope you find the rest you need and wake up refreshed. Life is a delicate balance, and every experience, even the challenging ones, teaches us to appreciate what really matters.
Take care and see you soon! π
