We almost missed out on parkrun today!!

The thunder woke me well before sunrise. I hadn't clicked that it was going to cause a problem, so I attempted to fall back asleep.
Meanwhile, Brad knew it would lead to parkruns being cancelled and went into problem-solving mode!
By the time I woke, only 40 minutes before we had planned to leave, he informed me that several of the parkruns in Adelaide had already cancelled due to the storms.
We turned on lights and looked at the options, both looking up different parkrun locations on our phones.
One after another fell.
On the coast, cancelled.
In the city, cancelled.
Our planned parkrun that would have got Brad another "D" for his alphabet, cancelled.
We were quickly running out of options that were close enough to drive to before South Australia's 8 am start time.
We kept looking further and further away. And then we spotted it: Stebonheath parkrun said they were a go!
At a few minutes past our planned departure time we double checked the travel time on Google Maps: 36 minutes.
We weren't going to have time to warm up or take photos or any of the other things we like to do before starting at a new pakrun, but we were still going to arrive in time for the briefing.
And, more importantly, make it back in time for the hotel's buffet breakfast!
As it turned out Stebonheath wasn't just a new parkrun for us, it was a pretty one! One that I could highly recommend to any parkrunner or -walker who might be caught in a city hit by the thunderstorms on a Saturday morning 😅

I hope the weather is kind to you when you hit the GOR!
It has certainly been quite wet over this side of the border! How wet has it been for you, there?
Warm and humid, rain at night but nothing much during day. Think it's coming this week!
Life, like storms, reminds us that the path is not always predictable. Sometimes challenges are opportunities in disguise, teaching us to adapt and find beauty in the unexpected. Brad's determination and search for alternatives show us that, in the face of adversity, hope and action are our best allies. May each twist and turn along the way inspire us to discover new experiences and appreciate what truly matters. Let us continue to look for the positive, even on the darkest days.
