I thought it would be easier than this

I had this idea in my mind
that once I was home
in my familiar place
sleeping in my bed
making food in our kitchen
tending to our garden
I'd quickly settle
find my feet
click into a normal routine similar to what I was doing before we left
but seven weeks on the road
where we covered more than 6,000 kms
and slept in 21 different beds
bouncing between hotels and others' homes,
motels and my mother's home,
I feel a little more discombobulated than I was expecting.
I thought it would be easier than this
but maybe I just need to give myself another day or two (or three)
see a few mates, attend a parkrun and drink coffee at our local
and maybe it will all just click into place again.
At least the wallabies are still here,
in the bush near us
as if to greet me:
Welcome home.

I used to be like that after being away from home for a period. Would be all restless and unsettled. It would pass after a few days as I fell back into routines.
Great, almost 17k

You left your heart in Adelaide. It happens :)
It’s perfectly natural to feel a bit out of sorts after such an enriching and lengthy trip. Life teaches us that getting back into a routine isn’t always as straightforward as we imagine, especially after experiences that transform us. Taking the time you need to regain your balance is an act of self-care and wisdom. The little things, such as a coffee at your favourite café or a get-together with friends, can be the building blocks that help you rebuild your inner home. And how lovely that the kangaroos are there, reminding you that, despite the changes, there is always a place waiting for you with open arms.
