Wiosenny roślinny update / Spring plant update [#86] PL/ENG

avatar

It's final and official, spring is among us again. Wherever it's possible nature explodes with greenery. If you live under a rock, and you have no idea what's going up outside, this post will help you keep up with what's going up during spring time. At least in southern Poland.

Szczawik zajęczy to taka mała, urocza roślinka, którą najczęściej widuję w lasach, a teraz właśnie kwitnie na biało. Charakterystyczne listki można sobie zjeść, mają kwaskowaty posmak, nazwa zobowiązuje.

Wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) is small and cute plant growing mostly in forests. It's typical to Europe and epithet acetosella refers to its sour taste. You can eat it! This little buddy is tasty and hard to be mistaken with anything else.

Kolejne białe kwiatki to zawilec gajowy, prawie zawsze rośnie w dużych grupach w lasach liściastych i mieszanych.

Wood anemone (Anemonoides nemorosa) is another forest plant native to Europe. It grows usually in groups and these stand out in forests still waking up to life. Also as a species which spreads very slowly wood anemone is indicative for old forests. This part of the year is the best time to spot trash dumped in nature, you can see it all.

Vertrum lobelianum is a poisonous plant which I just get to know few days ago. I liked it a lot and that was no surprise I didn't know it before when I got to know this plant belongs to endangered species and is very rare.

A ci kosmici to wiosenne pędy zarodnikowe skrzypu. Niedługo będą obumierać po wysłaniu w powietrze miliardów malutkich zarodników. Pędy te można sobie pozbierać, usmażyć i zjeść. W Internecie bez problemu znajdziecie jakiś przepis.

These little aliens are spring branches of common horsetail (equisetum arvense). These will be gone after few days, during this time they are spreading spores. You might hurry and forage whole branches to fry it and eat its alien flesh. It's weird experience but totally worth trying.

Pięknie kwitną też już dzikie bratki.

I really enjoy seeing wild pansy too. These are very common in Poland.

A wracając wczoraj z biura rowerem spotkałem taki oto dość wiosenny mural.

Doesn't this mural bring spring to your mind? It does for me. This is the final sign I met yesterday while cycling back from my office.

Przynajmniej aż do jesieni.

Yeah, signs of the spring might be obvious but nothing is final until half of the may, then we can observe climate phenomenon known as Ice Saints. Both traditional folklore and statistical research show then we can expect last really cold days. Afterwards plants in gardens can thrive safely.

It's not a surprise 16th May will be celebrated as 6th International Day Of Planting Pumpkin in Public Space. During last two editions I just planted seeds randomly. Unfortunately it didn't bring any pumpkin plant to life as far as I know. This year will be different. I planted seeds beforehand in my appartment. Here is a miracle of life!

So beautiful!!! 😆😆😆 The fourth pic, we call it 'tsukushi' in Japanese, and we eat it in Japan lol~~~!! I found some in Sweden, and I tried if I can eat or not, and, yup, it was good! The Japanese eat everything, I guess lol😆🤭🤭 https://ecency.com/tsukushi/@mizuosemla/tsukushi

Yeah, I ate these once too. I found about it in the book about wild, edible plants of Polish flora.

It was a peculiar experience :D

It's not popular at all. Eating wild plants is more like a trendy, hipster thing for people being into nature. However due to periods of hunger and austerity there is a history of eating wild plants.

Yeah, I see I see! It is the same in Japan! It used to be very common, but eating wild plants is for the rich now in Japan! It used to be for people who live in rural areas because they do not have not so many things to eat, but nowadays, it has become 'hipster' as you mentioned, and it has become a 'vegan eating habit' which is pretty expensive in Japan! Hahaha! 😆

@mizuosemla
Yay, you're the first japanese I encounter on hive, for a strange reason it feels good :)) I always liked Japan since I was a kid, probably because of all the anime and movies I was watching. :)

Also, just out of curiosity I checked your account and I can see that you did not claim your free DUAT tokens for the future Ragnarock game, in the near future when the game will be available you'll be able to exchange your duat tokens for ingame nfts, 112 duat tokens for 1 nft. You can go here and claim your 3530 duat tokens, this means you'll get over 30 ingame nfts, yayy :)))

Claim here: https://ragnaroknft.info/
