My Actifit Report Card: May 11 2020

Hi guys and thanks for stopping by!

I got up this morning with the intention of getting our hike in earlier than normal. As we got ready and headed out, a local tree cutting company known for not being the nicest folks, were just north of our driveway taking out a tree the neighbor had reported to the local utility company as being a hazard. Going out the driveway and starting the hike would require us to walk by where they had the road barricaded. I knew they wouldn’t allow us to pass. So at first, we looked for a way through the woods from our property where we could gain access to the road. Unfortunately the creek that runs along the front was too steep a ravine to be able to cross and climb up out of. In the end, we temporarily gave up and went to get gas for mowing the yard.

They were still there when we returned but were soon gone. Up the hill we headed!

Who let all of the bugs out anyway?! It was like someone had removed the lid to a bug keeper and the smidges were out in full attack force!🙀. I pulled out my secret weapon-my homemade bug repellent which is good stuff. Even it was having a hard time keeping the pesky little things at bay!

Actifit-Lamb jumped into my backpack to stay away from the vermin. When we got to Towhee Ridge, she was so excited as it was her first tea party on the trail. She had just gotten a new tea set and was anxious to try it out.

She finished quickly as the smidges smelled a new victim!

We headed for home after applying another layer of my bug repellent.

The wisteria behind the Fitbit stats is from another neighbor’s tree at the side of the road. I rummaged around and found a couple of seed pods so I’m hoping to grow my own.

Just as we arrived home, I handed my water bottle to @silvertop ( more like kind of threw it, lol) and grabbed my phone to take this picture.

Beautiful!

Tomorrow is another day. This one is done.

That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and be safe and stay healthy! Keep on @actifit steppin’! 🤗😘👣😁💪😎👍🎶🐝🦋

Great stepping Elizabeth and as always am happy to see Actifit lamb and her new tea set. Loving that picture of the butterfly amidst the flowers, that's a beautiful shot. I am curious what oils you use in your bug repellent, I use neem oil, eucalyptus and peppermint oil in my lotion and the bugs stay away.
Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday ahead, keep stepping and enjoy your day :}

Hey @practicaleric! Thanks for stopping by! I use lemon oil, citronella, eucalyptus, rosemary and a little peppermint. The bugs this year are more than triple what we usually have. I'm not real sure why that is as it's also been less rainy than normal.

The butterfly was awesome! I like to try to catch bees and butterflies in photos as often as I can, but sometimes, they don't cooperate, lol! Take care and have a good night!

I'd love to know how you make your homemade bug repellent. Although there aren't many pesky bugs here, it will come handy when I travel. But that won't be until next year. I find that the commercial bug repellents are not that great, and I am super allergic to mosquito bites. I love that photo of the butterfly. So beautiful! Hehehe, Actifit Lamb is hosting tea!
Have a beautiful evening and a wonderful week. Time flies very fast, soon it will be the weekend again! Stay safe, my sweet sis @elizabethbit and take care 🥰🌺🤙.

Hey @silversaver888! Actifit-Lamb wanted a little glamour in her hiking, lol! She wants ACCESSORIES!

As for the bug repellent; I use lemon oil, rosemary oil, citronella oil, eucalyptus oil, and peppermint oil. I use vaseline as a base to mix it in as I find it the least offensive feeling as you can put it on super light or in layers. If the bugs are really bad like they are here this year, it's applied kind of like sunscreen; every 30-45 minutes or if you notice them being after you again. It smells wonderful too. I am susceptible to cellulitis from mosquito bites and end up with infections because of being allergic to their 'spit'. Not fun! Take care sis and have a good night!🤗🤗
