My Actifit Report Card: August 11 2020

Today was our days to go back to the Gold Mine Trail. It was a cool but sunny day-perfect for hiking. Our objective this time was to find the restored Friendly Cabin, as we have heard it called. Off we headed!
We were deep in the cool forest when we came to a trail that forked off to the left. We headed up it; it was fairly steep. @silvertop was in the lead at that point when we heard a voice call out that there wasn’t anything really up this way. The couple who had this rather large, but friendly dog, had gone up the trail to answer the call of nature. When I heard that, we turned around and headed back down.
We continued on the main trail and just past the clear cut, another trail forked off to the left. We took that. At this point, we knew that unless someone entered the trails up there somewhere else, we were the only ones left out in the forest.
Up we climbed. Some of it was pretty steep and it was fairly winding. The tree behind the Fitbit stats was on of several we encountered on the way up. I would categorize that as an old growth fir. This was the view from about half way up.
Onward we continued. Up we went, winding our way up a single person well worn trail. Eventually I saw a clearing up ahead and the apex of the cabin’s gable was visible.
We had arrived!
There was a little weatherized box to register at and @actifit-lamb was ready to sign the registry!
It was VERY rustic inside.
There was also a nicely drawn map of the area.

I enjoyed reading your article and account of your hike on your way to the Friendly Cabin! Thank you for bringing us along. I will surely read @silvetop's article. I noticed the beverage can that missed the trash can. It is so telling of the lazy character and lack of good citizenship of the person who did not care enough to make sure that can was placed inside the trash can. I wonder how that person's home looks like!
