My Actifit Report Card: October 10 2021
Hi guys and thanks for stopping by!
We attended church via Facebook live today, due to Covid outbreaks at church. We’re just trying to stay safe and plan to go back next Sunday. Our retired pastor Carl did the sermon as Covid is in the current pastor’s home. 😳 We are praying for a speedy recovery and for no one else in the family to contract it.
We headed out earlier than usual for the hike. Jan came with.
The first picture shows two aspen trees. The bigger of the two broke off in the wind storm last night about 25’ up the trunk.
The balance of the tree was here on the ground. A lot of tree!😳
It is so ‘shroom time in the forest! Feast your eyes on these beauties!
Then, I found these!
This next one looked like a little water dish filled with rainwater from last night.
Just before we went hiking, I was finishing my continuing education for opticians. I was so involved and on my final test, I didn’t realize it was time to hike! As I finished, @silvertop went out to meet Jan at the gate and wait as I finished, submitted and got my certificate for the test. I was in such a hurry, I had to leave poor @actifit-lamb at home! She understood and I promised her some fun tomorrow.
That’s gonna be it for now. Take care everybody and have a splendid week ahead! 👣🐑🍁🍂🍄🌻🎃😁🤗☕️👍😴

Oh, the tree broke!
With so many trees around you, has one ever fell in front of you?
Beautiful mushrooms!!!
I have had a 12-18" stick come down and stick in the ground very close to me before, but not an actual tree. I try to stay out of the forest during severe wind storms. It's safer that way.

@elizabethbit The King has been reading/listening to the book, Invisible Rainbow" and it talks about electricity, radio and all of our appliances that emit harmful EMF. Aspen forests along with every living plant, animal and human are being affected by the radiation. This is a form of pollution that our modern society is denying exists. Makes me wonder about your beautiful aspens and if and what is around them?
Are you just taking pictures of the shrooms or harvesting as well?
Have a miraculous Monday!
Hey @kingneptune! The aspen trees that we hike through are totally rural. Nothing electrical nearby. We had a super drought this year and the trees are a bit brittle as a result. Combine that with our infamous wind storms that we get, albeit earlier this year than normal, and you have the perfect recipe for downed trees. We've lost power 3 times already and that usually doesn't happen until December or so. Fortunately for us, we have solar power to run about 80% of the house (not the well, though).
I just take pics of the 'shrooms. I don't care for mushrooms for eating but they make fabulous eye candy!👁
Take care my friend!
@elizabethbit It is more than power lines, radio and microwaves as well along with cell towers. There doesn't have to be anything nearby, it can be from far away. It is a combination of all the effects combined on the planet. The use can be for commercial and/or military. Most of it goes unnoticed due to awareness.
Have a blessed Tuesday!
I understand! I've heard about how bad things are, and now we have 5G to help up the ante.
Take care my friend!
My neighbor (I had a vacation home on the Canadian border) got hit by a falling tree and was killed. I was horrified as I had never known anyone who was near a falling tree.
I am glad you don't go in the forest when it is windy out. It WAS windy that day and as an experienced cutter, I had to wonder.
Congratulations on continuing education! We can never stop learning! Have a great week ahead! Good thing you have a forgiving lamb!
I have to say, the few times I've been out when it's windy @dswigle, there is a mesmerizing power to the wind in the trees; but I know that it can be deadly. We have a tree on the trail that is caught in another tree's fork of branches. It literally is hanging on the tree trunk (the one that is broken) by 6" or less of bark. We have been watching this tree for about 3 years now, as we pass under it every day. It has moved, and when it goes, it probably will jack knife back. Depending how far that movement occurs, will be the deciding factor as to whether or not it makes it out of the fork and totally onto the ground. We jokingly call this tree the 'Widow Maker' because unfortunately, anyone under it when it does go, is not going to survive. Needless to say, we don't spend a lot of time under it at all!
As for the continuing ed; thanks! It's over for this year; next year begins another 10 credits I will need to retain my license.
@actifit-lamb did get out during today's hike. She was very happy!
Take care sweet lady and have a wonderful evening/day!🌻💜🤗
