Did you know that their lifespan is only around 3+ years? They are very shy creatures and intend no harm to humans. It's unfortunate that they freeze in the roadways the way that they do. They tend to end up as roadkill up here a lot.

Nice job with your 12254 @actifit steps for the day! Take care my friend and have a good one!

@elizabethbit No, I was unaware of their lifespan. Thank you for the nudge. We will just have to look into this a bit more!

Have a blessed evening and thanks for dropping by!

Take care @kingneptune! I once saw a little baby that fell off it's mother's back during one of our hikes. Mom was nowhere around, but the little guy was smaller than the palm of my hand, and was trekking up along the trail. I don't know what happened with him, but I hope he survived!

@elizabethbit Our eldest daughter was scared stiff when one growled at her, baring its razor teeth. It was pure white and she said it looked like a ghost with teeth. She let out a howl that woke us all up.

I believe she was the mom because we saw several babies around the wood pile out back. This was awhile ago.

Blessings to you and your family!

That was the mama bear' reaction, I'm sure. We were fortunate a few years ago to sit and watch a wildlife presentation and one of the animals he had and talked about was the possum. As for your daughter's experience, the possum probably didn't know her babies weren't in danger. I bet it was scary though! Take care!
