First seeds planted and ruminations: March 26 2020
Yesterday was filled with lots of emotions regarding the world around us. Primarily frustration and anger were my main ones and that is due to the willingness of people to give up every right and freedom they had. The world is forever changed and noone wants to see that. The end of society as we know it is happening. The steady creep of reduced freedoms has now fallen over the falls and we are about to hit the rocks at the bottom. Like lemmings the world marches into a dystopian authoritarian future where no one is allowed to touch. Reality is mimicing the digital, humans are now willingly stopping personal interactions.
I did manage to get my first seed planted for the year. The left cold frame has 3 types of spinach planted and the right frame has 3 plantings of lettuce. 2 head type and 1 is a mix of loose leaf. The frames are definitely making a difference with the temperature so I am hoping for good things out of them.
I am building fires in the pit every day now. It is a little bit of catharsis in getting to watch things burn. It feels like I am watching the world burn so watching the fire burn in the pit is a sort of comforting relation. I am getting a chance to burn all the crap tree debris that is laying around the yard so it is looking a bit better in the yard.
It is hard to stop thinking about th horse shit going on in the world now and so I am having to work at focusing on the task at hand. Yet this shit still invades and ifiltrates my thoughts.
Someone stop this fucking planet, I want off this ride.
Your planting season is way ahead of mine! We still have snow covering part of the garden, and the frost is still in the ground.
It has been a warm winter and dry the past month so I am able to get some cool weather stuff in. The rest of the garden has some drying out to do before I can really get to tilling. This is about the best I have done at getting seeds in early.
Far too early to plant here in Western Mass. I've got another month before I can think about planting. Good thing, as I've got a terrible mess in the Big garden to clean out before I can plant...
At least that gives you time to get your starts going. I have to get tomatoes started today and hope they can get big enough in the next month. This year is going to be my biggest garden ever so the earlier I can get started the better.
