23.08.20 When in Venice...🎭🍝

We are in Venice, in San Lio between Rialto and San Marco, in an apartment for a week. We visited 5 years ago with our son. We have returned this time with both children who are having lots of fun.
It is a little quieter than usual for this area at this time of year which is actually a blessing! We also feel lucky that most of the museums have reopened and the beach at Lido is quieter and cleaner. So far we have visited the Natural History Museum which is astonishing which all its macabre taxidermy and today we went to the beach. The food so far has been “meh” and I am already covered in swollen mosquito bites but after lockdown in Cambridge, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
We plan to visit the Palazzos around San Marco’s Square, go to Murano where the glassworks used to be made and of course visit the beach again and eat lots of delicious ice-cream 🍦

Thanks 😊 we ate at the Artisti Restaurant in Castello yesterday and the food was great. We enjoyed a gondola ride. The children don't want to leave!

Hi @amico,we had a great holiday and returned to a cold, wet, windy England yesterday! My children loved the Lido beach, the hot, sunny weather, the gondola ride and the apartment so much so that my son cried when we had to go. How lucky you are to live there!
An Italian saying goes "whoever is satisfied enjoys": surely living in the UK has advantages that there are not living in Italy?
Now I'm with my family in Trentino Alto Adige: it's been raining persistently since two days and the rivers are swelling: fear?
Next time you come back to Venice, if you like we can meet and have a drink and chat together in person.
