Disappointing pull-up performance test... my training diary entry from December 15 2025

(What's wrong with the weather this week? Can it please stop being so hazy? It's making me depressed.)

Hi Actifitters,

three weeks have passed since my last performance test. Back then, I managed seven pull-ups with resistance band assistance. Since then, I've successfully completed six stages of my training plan. Yesterday, the next performance test was scheduled, and I knew that three very short nights' sleep would prevent me from performing at my best. Nevertheless, I was optimistic and expected a significant improvement. However, this didn't materialize, as I only managed nine pull-ups. Of course, that's an improvement compared to the last test, but two more pull-ups after three weeks of training is a bit disappointing.

The good thing is, however, that I don't have to repeat the past six training levels, as I can start the next higher training phase with the nine pull-ups I've managed yesterday.

The following six training levels look like this:

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
3533max (min. 5)120 seconds
set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
4644max (min. 6)120 seconds
set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
5755max (min. 6)120 seconds
set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
5855max (min. 8)120 seconds
set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
6966max (min. 8)120 seconds
set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
6966max (min. 10)120 seconds

I am curious to see how long it will take to master these levels.

On top of the performance test I made side crunches followed by an relaxed hour on my indoor trainer.

Since I finally got a good and long night's sleep, I'm feeling pretty good today. Because of this, I'm finally going to train harder today. I'll tell you how it went in tomorrow's report.
