Another intense cycling session with a personal best... my training diary entry from January 12 2026

(I took this photo this morning on my way to the supermarket. It's a little blurry because I zoomed in quite a bit. But that's the only way to see the mountains in the background. I think it's amazing that you can see them so clearly, even though they're about 80 kilometers away.)

Hi Actifitters,

after my intense smart trainer session two days ago I had another intense session yesterday. The plan was to do a more relaxed session but I was in power mode. My watch planned one hour and 18 minutes at 125 watts and so I started.

At the beginning I had no sidequests in my mind but after the first few minutes I felt like there could be a new record possible. So I decided to try to do the 40 kilometers in unter 59:15 what was the personal best I did two days ago. What can I say? I was on fire! I made the 40 kilometers in 54:34.

Here are a few more details about yesterday's smart trainer session:

Duration - 1:18:02
Distance - 55.31 km
Average speed - 42.5 km/h
Maximum speed - 51.7 km/h
Average power output - 124 watts
Maximum power output - 144 watts
Average heart rate - 137 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 162 bpm
Average cadence - 114
Maximum cadence - 134

Overall, the session became strenuous in the last 20 minutes, when I reached higher heart rates.
In addition to the muscle soreness in my calves, I now also have soreness in my inner thighs.


Today I will cautiously try push-ups, as a first trial run has shown that neither my golfer's nor my tennis elbow is strained by them. Additionally, I would like to gain some altitude on my step board again, as the muscle soreness in my calves is slowly becoming more bearable. Finally, my watch scheduled a base training session of one hour and 18 minutes at 120 watts on the smart trainer for me.

I have the tenniselbow on the left side and the golfers on the right.
