Signs of spring / 春の気配 - My Actifit Report Card: February 17 2026

It was another day with weak sunlight and quite chilly, but somehow there was a faint sense of spring in the air. It might be the pollen riding in on the cool breeze.

My son, who suffers badly from hay fever, has now been on sublingual immunotherapy for two and a half years since starting.

He occasionally forgets to take it, but somehow he’s managing to continue.
Starting two or three days ago I’ve begun feeling itchy eyes myself (I have mild hay fever too), but he still seems completely fine. If that means the treatment is actually working, I’d be really happy.

They say the medication should ideally be continued for 3 to 5 years, so it’s still too early to stop. It would be great if he himself starts to feel the benefits and approaches the treatment willingly… Right now I’m still the one managing and supervising it—checking whether he forgot to take it or not. Well… it often turns into an argument and I get exhausted 😅

Today I went shopping twice—once in the morning and once in the evening—and both times I walked. When it’s cold I really don’t feel like riding my bicycle (my hands get freezing 💦).

Because my part-time shifts are lighter in February, I’ve been able to spend relatively relaxed days lately. The problem is that I tend to stay up late. Late bedtime → sleepy in the morning → lower performance during the day… that vicious cycle.

This month I’ve been keeping the promise I made to myself—not bringing my smartphone into the bedroom—which is good, but since my bedtime itself is still late, my total sleep time is insufficient and my head doesn’t feel clear somehow.

I have a short shift later today, but once I get home I’m planning to jump straight into the bath and go to bed!

Today’s step count: 6,000 steps. Not a lot, but… just barely passing, I guess?

今日も日差しが弱く寒かったのですが、どことなく春の気配が感じられる一日でした。ひんやりとした風に乗ってやってくる、花粉のせいかもしれません。

花粉症がひどい長男の舌下免疫療法は開始から2年半が経過し、時々飲み忘れはあるものの、なんとか続いています。2、3日前から私は目の痒みを感じるようになりましたが(私自身も軽度の花粉症です)、長男はまだなんともない様子。治療が効いているのだとしたら嬉しいです。

薬は3年から5年は続けるのが望ましいとされていて、まだやめることはできません。彼自身がメリットを感じて、自発的に治療に臨んでくれるようになるといいのですが… 現在のところ、私が管理・監視して、飲み忘れがないかのチェックが欠かせない状況で、まぁ喧嘩になるし、草臥れるので😅

今日は午前中と夕方、2度買い物にでましたが、どちらも徒歩で。寒いと自転車に乗りたくなくなる私です(手が冷たいので💦)

2月はパートのシフトが少なめなせいか、比較的のんびりした毎日を過ごせています。ただ夜更かしをしがちなのが問題で、寝るのが遅くなる→朝、眠い→昼間のパフォーマンスが落ちる・・・という悪循環。

今月は自分と交わした約束通り、寝る部屋にスマホを持ち込まないというルールを守れているのは良いのですが、そもそも寝る時間が遅いので、睡眠時間が足りていないのでしょう、なんとなく頭がスッキリしません。今日はこのあと短時間のシフトが入っていますが、帰ったら速攻お風呂に入って寝てしまおうと思います。

今日の歩数は6000歩。あまり多くはありませんが、ギリギリセーフかな?

Recently, I learned more about the causes of pollen allergy. Expert wrote it's due to too many sugi, hinoki, cedar, oak, birch, juniper, pine, and other trees planted in the forest. In the future, perhaps need to consider growing allergy friendly trees. Maybe living in Okinawa is the solution to hay fever. There are Japanese people claiming that living in tropical weather help tremendously. True, sleeping early is so so important in healing the body, mind and soul. Do consider wearing gloves to keep your hands warm. Being human and especially a parent is tough. Everyone has their own suffering in life. Some are financially fine but infertile, some are in good health and yet their kids are unwell, some are orphans, etc. Best wishes!

Yes, that's right—this season's pollen allergies in Japan are mostly caused by cedar (sugi) pollen. Okinawa does seem like a great option... Personally, when I was in my teens, my hay fever was really bad, but during my university days while living in Niigata, the symptoms improved quite a lot. I don't know exactly why... Maybe because it was a snowy region.

睡眠足りてないと一日中モチベ上がらなかったりして時間のコスパほんとに悪くなるので睡眠時間はホントに大事だなと。。。
とは言えやりたい事多すぎて、でもふとSNSが気になって気が付けば2時・・・とかしょちゅうなので最近はどんなにやりたい事残っていても1時までに切り上げてSNSはみないって決めてます🙃

私もうっかりすると寝る時間が2時、3時になりがちです。SNSは誘惑が多いですよね😂Hiveの調べ物もキリがないし・・

「スマホを寝室に持ち込まないルール」はこれまでにも何度かチャンレンジしていて、成功→失敗の繰り返しで今回3回目くらいです。

    Thank you! The one with the water reflection is a small stream flowing through a nearby park, but I think I managed to capture really interesting photo myself too.

    Sleep is the biggest challenge when it comes to my lifestyle habits. I've failed at it several times before, so I'll keep pushing myself!
