Wow, what a great workout I had yesterday. Wasn't going to do much today - let's call it a rest day.
Decided to get up early to beat the heat. We are in a hot spell, high, high humidity and bloody hot. Hitting 35c (close to 95F). Ya, contrary to popular belief its not snow drifts and igloos up here... although we did have snow on May 11th.
That's my buddy on May 11th - he loves the snow
Anyhow, yes hot as Hell here this weekend. I strapped on a 28kg (60lbs) rucksack and went on a 20K (12.5ml) tab into the country side.
Much slower than I typically pace it out. It was a new route and I didn't realize I'd be traversing a 171m (500+ feet) in elevation. That was a killer.
I was pretty bagged when I made it back home. I took 4L of water and came back with just under 1L left.
The terrain was different, lots of swamps on the side of the roads, in the gullies of the hills, saw 3 different turtle species. Painted, Wood and Snapper. Snapped this shot of one. Snapped :-)
So, today is a rest and recovery day, foesure. It was a good physical and mental exertion but now its time to chill, spark the bbq, and sip a brewski.
Sitting back and enjoying the evening.
A big happy Father's day to all you dad's out there!
