I am sitting on the edge of a lake in darkness. A wind - pleasant with cool undertones - blows off the lake in a constant whisper, mussing my hair, tingling in the wind chimes, suggesting the possibility of rain.
But the dark sky is clear and dotted with a spattering of stars. The light of Venus glimmers in the lake’s wind ripples. There is nothing as important as just being in this moment.
We are taking a few days away at a cabin on a lake. I need this. Just a little time to breathe, be at one with light and air, and step away from my job and responsibilities. There are times when I forget that it’s possible.
But at this moment, sitting by the embers of a fire, with tiny lights from other cabins shimmering across the lake, and hearing the wave sound of leaves as the wind rises, it actually feels like I could find that quiet center of repose.
I can’t share a picture with you of this quiet, near-dark experience. But here is the last picture I took of the lake as dusk fell and a lone boat sped by.
Thank you for visiting.
