Wednesday Walk - On a Frozen Lake - Actifit: January 12 2022
Every winter I like to walk at least once across the lake. It’s so stunning to see this massive body of water supporting cars, trucks and fishing huts. There is an entire village out there where there are normally boats in the warm months!
The fishing huts come in all shapes and sizes.
Here’s the road running across the lake.
There are always a few skating rinks. Sometimes I see kids skating; sometimes I see a hockey game. Some of them are outfitted with lights for night skating.
All kinds of vehicles travel across the lake, including cars, trucks, snowmobiles and ATVs (all-terrain vehicles). Sometimes I see fat-tire bikes.
Here are the empty boat racks and docks — waiting for summer to return.
(No, that’s not a real owl. It’s there to keep seagulls, ducks and geese from pooping on their dock!)
And here is evidently a turn-around spot for snowmobiles.
These are some scenic additions to my post. I liked the pretty skies.
Can you guess what this is??
It’s an ice fishing hole. People drill them with special ice augurs. When they are done fishing they just leave them like that and soon enough the hole freezes over.
And here is me… and my shadow. It was a brutally cold day, so I was fully geared up.
And finally, here are two pictures of the same dock — one in winter and one in summer so you can see the contrast!

Wild how we humans react to things aye? I've seen a big increase, in the number of people that are completely submerging themselves in this chilly water, and claim the benefits are amazing.

It amazes me still to see lakes so frozen over that people can walk on them and even more so when like you show here drive and dare I say thrive on the lack with cabins lights etc etc

It's really nuts, isn't it? The lake turns into a little town in the winter. I can't believe no one sets up a hot dog stand or goes out there with a food truck!
That would be so cool to see a food truck on the ice I bet it has happened somewhere

Wow, the lake is do frozen.
As I continued reading and viewing several photos of that frozen Lake, I was just wondering if people who walk on it, skate on it or drive on it won't be scared that it might get broken.
