Possible to Exercise while Cooking? My lock down tales

Yes! It has been really hard to hit 5K when you are confined at home and you are not able to even go out for a jog on the road alone, being on call and remote supporting from 830am till almost midnight daily, but yesterday was finally possible when I found out a way to make perfect French Toast on every side, even and nice !

But I will just share with you how I managed to get the eggy covered French Toast perfect on every side.

1. Preheat your frying pan / skillet

I am not sure about yours but mine is using electric stove with 400°C preheat (hi heat) and let my trusty non stick skillet to be just enough hot.

(which means when you place your hand about an inch above the surface you can feel the heat - but not too hot)

2. Set to medium high heat

Butter the pan with just enough oil on the top (mine use vegetable oil) to keep the bread from sticking on the pan

And then soak the bread gently with the egg mix on both sides and then ...

3. Star jumping jacks 30 times

As the toast starts to cook on the pan, start the jumping jack at any opening in your kitchen

be sure your kitchen does not have oily floor though.

4. Flip the toast to the other side and do another 30 jumping jacks.

For me, the 30 jumping jack was perfect as the side of the toast was just brown.

I ended up making 8 slices and it was 30x8 = 240 jumping jack / squats interval.

That's really not bad for the start of the day! Not only I got a good workout I also served yummy French toast for me and my family.

And just that in the morning I got up to 2000 steps because I was walking in and out of the kitchen taking one set of toast on plat to the table at a time, deliberately, just to sweat a little more.

(not to mention, sweeping the floor much later in the afternoon and still walk to the kitchen / bathroom for breaks the whole day every hour)

In Malaysia, we are literally asked not to get out of the house. And with a small apartment I have, this is what I can do to keep myself active.

Caution though: this is my pan; if you want to try this method you will need to experiment with your first piece of toast and see how well it goes. Then just repeat the process with however many slices of bread you want to make into French toast.

haha.... I am glad that you have the same thought as I did!

I hardly exercise the first 2 weeks just making bigger rounds of walking when going to a grocer to grab a loaf of bread; then I felt so sluggish that I started doing burpees (starting with 10) and I realised that my stamina is in grave danger!

Just then, when I realised that I can time my toasts, I tried out this routine!
