Mom has been coughing like crazy ever since the 6 factories fire happened 3 Sundays ago.

And we have tried all sorts of remedies to help her to ease the cough a bit.

This also includes a traditional remedy that both my choir member and my colleague swear by it: which is oil pulling.

Having my colleague who came back from UK in 2020 (right before lockdowns) who rather rely on natural remedies than to queue forever at NHS hospitals for her 3 kids (then) and herself, she had found this method helped her asthmatic son to recover faster whenever he was down with flu.

Being uncertain whether was it good to invest on a huge bottle that actually costs a bomb in Kuala Lumpur and also uncertain of the purity of the locally sold coconut oil,I was trying to look for smaller batch to test out.

Good thing I actually found a box of loose packed coconut oil that helps to keep it more hygiene.

And to make it more surprisingly is that these individually small packed ones in a box is cheaper than a glass bottled coconut oil of the exact same brand! Well, God's favour is definitely on my side today

Moreover I can actually share with my mom for my hair

I have found out that treating my super dry ends hair with this is quite effective. My hair feels "heavier" and a little less freezy when applied, but because I didn't want to keep it overnight the most i will leave it on for 2 hours before I wash it off.

Hair treatment was counted a good progress however the oil pulling isn't having significant difference for my mom.

there's got to be other elements triggering her to cough with loads of phlegm

Then I decided to clean the ceiling fan in the room. To my horror 😱 it was just last month I have cleaned it and it is covered with ashes!!!

Immediately I do another round of mopping with the HIGH TECH MOP (I wrote a review in one of my post before) and to my horror it was already 3 rounds and still the water was murky!

When I shared this with my Indonesian office cleaner about how bad the air had been, she told me "oh, probably it is the open burning landfill happening in Bandung Indonesia"

She was sharing how the skies were so grey filled with ashes when she was on her flight back from Jakarta after visit her ill sister a few days prior

Immediately I went to check and I think part of the mystery why the air remained hazy and polluted has been revealed.

But after 3 weeks of coughing and more phlegm surfacing especially all these hospital runs, my mom will need to rebuild her immune system again 😓

So I think this coming weekend I am going to do another round of mopping for the rooms just to keep minimal dust accumulated.
