"In your opinion, is there really something to boast about?

Every now and then I happen to interface with entrepreneurs who, with a certain enthusiasm, boast of how dedicated they are to work. And they compete to see who shouts the loudest exclamations like:

"I work 178 hours a day !!"
"I 200 !!"
"I also work on Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and Chinese New Year !!"
"And I work without sleeping, eating and I'm waterproof too!"

Good eh. Congratulations.

I mean, what job did you say you do? Entrepreneurs? And do you work 1,000 hours a day?

Mmh ...

I guess you're not exactly an entrepreneur then.

Maybe you are excellent workers, or maybe craftsmen, in short, you are operating within your company, which probably could not survive a single day without you but ... you are not real entrepreneurs.

I don't want to be offensive, but I need to appeal to all my frankness, because it is the only way I can make a proud and ambitious entrepreneur like you understand how things really are.

Answer this question: how many hours do you work a day?

5? 7? 12? 24?

Whatever the answer is, that's fine. But know that the fact that that number is "big" doesn't make you special. Rather.

It means you have to think of everything. You have to talk to the accountant, the supplier, worry about your collaborators not doing damage, deal with the customer and… and then? Is your time really worth that little?

The good news is that even if you don't see a way out at the moment, even if you think you're destined to work a thousand hours a day to keep the shack up, I assure you that there is a way out and it's not that far .
