Summer days : August 11 2020

I finally got all the contest winner posts up. It was a great contest and the entries were amazing! Freewriters Rock!

After that, it was hardcore garden work. Luckily, my back is feeling better - today, the wood for our raised beds was delivered. While my husband was starting to build the beds, I was clearing the ground.

We had a wildernesses of sunflowers growing - a heaven for birds. And of course, collards everywhere. They are always delicious!

Was still walking the yard to get to the 10,000 when the sun went down 😀

I'm glad your back is better!! I am planning on doing raised beds next year; it's too late for this year as it's been cool and things didn't grow very well. Sounds like a nice project. Excellent job with 10037 @actifit steps for the day. Take care and don't over do. 🤗

Thank you. I am trying to be super aware of my posture and not lifting too much. We are going to set them up that they can be covered - not that much of a cold issue here - but that might work for you as well :)

Good suggestion! Also if they are raised up to say, hip level, that might also save on bending over, lol! I might have to think about that too. Thanks for the suggestion and have a lovely night!

I'm glad that your back is improving! We want to build raised beds for vegetables, too. Jeff still needs to repaint the house and sell it.

He is selling his house, right?
Normally, I am more in favor of inground beds. but with my back being wonky, I figured we do a few raised ones for intensive gopher free growing and then have the back yard for the big wilderness :)

Yes, Jeff is selling his house and we will buy this rental and build on this 5.5 acres. Good idea for the raised beds. We have lots of critters and ground hogs, deer and rabbits.

I know that some people that have lots of critters actually build like a house for the garden - only the walls are chicken wire instead of solid. Deer can jump a 6 foot fence easy - and rabbits get into everything. The bottom can be hardware clothes to keep the gophers out and the rest chicken wire :) and in the winter - you can turn it into a green house...
