I feel like a child each time they are with me and are happy.

I was once a child like them, but lacked opportunity to enjoy my dad as I should.

I’ll tell you why in the later part of this article, be patient and read on.

Today is Saturday, not really a busy day for me. I did some house chores, and later decided to take my kids to the salon.

We don’t have a nanny or house help; it is intentional, I and my wife agreed to raise our kids by ourselves. We share our duties in common according to individual strength. We help and respect one another.

I love washing my boys’ clothes, cooking for the family whenever I’m around. We play football today in our little apartment.

My boys were so happy that daddy took them to the salon 💇‍♂️.

Why I’ll love to give my children other children around me the very best of me

I happened to come from a polygamous home. My dad was a Christian who loves like he’s never hurt 😞.

He married my mother after he lost her first wife from civil war (Nigeria Biafra war 1967-1970).

As a soldier from Biafra side, he lost everything, but the most touching was that his wife died before he could return from the war, leaving my stepbrothers and sisters without anybody to care for them.

He came back with bullet in his bone. There was no hospital, no money, they were left without hope after a vehement humiliation, assault and abuse which came upon our indigenous people in the pursuit of their freedom.

His awful situation brought about my dad searching for a helpmate after many years on his sick bed mourning his late spouse and taking care of his children inadvertently due to his ill health.

He later got married to my mother. Having many trauma already as a consequence of the genocide called war which took his wife and his brother in cold blood. My dad and and his wife later gave birth to us which I happen to be their last child.

He loved us so much but couldn’t do much for us as a father considering his health challenges. He tried to hang on for us but couldn’t continue after many years of battling with his health. He lost the battle finally 😞😢

I grew up seeing how other children enjoy their family life with their dad and mom, for me, that’s the worst to have happened. It’s a sorrowful memory that could last a taste of time with me.

My mom as a widow started catering for many of us, she is strong 💪 and brave like a lioness. But the death of her husband caused her so much pain and scar in her heart.

This is my story, this is the history that molded me to be strong, fending for my family, my aged mother and anyone around me.

I see my father in me

Now that I have kids around, I always see my father in me trying to give his children the best that he couldn’t afford then.

I want to be here for them, and I want to make them happy. There’s one answer that I’m seeking for! To know how it feels like to have a healthy, loving, and caring dad. It’s really working for because each time that I see them happy and close to me, something happens to me inside.

I becomes a child inside of me at each time they’re happy. Through them, I’m regaining all my losses as a child without a father.
