Today was a pretty decent day though I didn't go work out like I would've liked. I spent some time with my wife and hung out with the family today. I still managed to get some walking in this evening and ended up with 7k steps.

We've got a new pet!

This is Vulcan. He is an Eastern Hercules Beetle 🪲. My wife caught him around her work. My son has been bugging me to get him one for a few weeks. He wanted me to buy it, but I told him we could catch one, luckily, we did. He named him Vulcan after the Roman god of steel and metalworking. This was on account of his hard shell.

Vulcan doesn't bite and eats fruit. He is nocturnal and is really active at night. The photo is of his temporary box. We are building up some better living arrangements for him tomorrow. My hope is that my son will be able to learn a little bit about this cool animal from keeping him as a pet. At this point of his life, Hercules beetles tend to live for about 3-12 months. So he's kind of old, but they spend most of their lives as grub worms.

Well, that's about it. I'm feeling a little sleepy so I have to get to sleep. I'll check in with guys tomorrow.
