Running in quarantine times

avatar

Been long since I've used actifit last time. But since I had to have my phone with me this Sunday, and it was running time... here it goes!

I recently read an article stating that the prohibition of running and other sports should not be done. And the explanation made sense: sports help to keep your immune system in shape as well, and in these current times that is even more important. They even went to compare isolation with the time in confinement the astronauts have to go through, and how that is proved to lower your immune system.

So off I went, running at the sunset, to be presented with this view before heading back home. And at the end of a sunny day, this is what is basically impossible to see in a normal day:

An empty parking lot by the beach!

Overall, I think I'm still in decent shape, probably even better than when I was in the gym often. My pace is still stubbornly higher than I wanted but well... work in progress!

So guys and gals... do take precautions, but don't forget to keep in shape; your immune system will thank you! Stay safe!

I started running in quarantine times.
Hope I will not run before the police :) Just kidding, in my country running and some individual sports (tennis, golf,...) are already allowed.
Nice stats by the way :)

A lot of needed improvement still, want to lower my pace to sub 6km/min! 😉

Ohh that's bad. Brief periods outside with precautions are needed, mental health is important too!

So is it ok to run and workout outside in Portugal? We are very confused about the situation here on Sao Miguel. I was actually caught and sent home by the police while jogging a few times already :(

I believe in the quarantine rules brief periods of outdoor exercise are allowed, just not in groups. Here even the beach sidewalk, that was closed during Easter, was reopened. And I did passed by police on my runs... and they didn't ran after me 😄 😄

Thanks for the info. My jogging was ok yesterday but maybe just because I didn´t encounter any policemen :D We will see how it goes today.

Well, think of it like this: even if they do appear... you only have to outrun them!! And most of them aren't in the best shape anyway! 😁 😁

Haha but I usually run on the promenade along the coast where they drive in cars :D And even though I am in a good shape right now, I dont´t think I am faster than a police car :D
