Friday Miscellaneous: July 10 2020
It’s been a while since I’ve hit 10,000 steps. The heat and humidity we’ve been having lately tend to slow things down. But when you have a house, the yard always has something in mind for you.
I moved a bunch of firewood from the side yard to the back where we have a new wood rack. All from a huge old maple tree we had cut down before it had a chance to fall on our house, something it appeared to be planning. Never trust a tree.
Our raspberry bushes are producing heavily. The pic shows what was harvested today; at least as much was picked yesterday, and the day before for that matter. Blueberry plants come to our yard to die, but raspberries seem to love they clayey conditions. Where they’re planted has barely had the soil amended, unlike the raised beds that we’ve put a lot of work into.
I must be getting old. Not all that long ago, it was huge news when Italy passed 50,000 TOTAL Covid-19 cases. Screaming headlines and finger-pointing. Now the United States had 67,482 NEW cases just yesterday and it’s a blip on the radar. Welcome to the new normal?

A beautiful harvest of raspberries! I have two varieties here in my house and I look forward to them bearing fruit.

About the new normal some countries are already trying to reach this point. Here in Brazil the peak hasn't even arrived yet and unfortunately things are not looking good here. Hoping and praying that this will end hands as quickly as possible.

I almost never hit 10k because Of my nature of work and the fact I do it from home. 6500 is pretty damn good is you are spending them like that.
My raspberry bushes are having it too good with the abundant sun and daily waterings. So much so they are flourishing but not really producing berries yet. Might have to dry them out a little.
From Canada, the US Covid situation is concerning and seemingly obvious in nature. Sucks for the reasonable half willing to be careful for the sake of health safety. People so willing to march into the corporate wood chipper in the name of capitalism while being cheered on by Michael Scott of world leaders is baffling. Sacrificing 10% of the most vulnerable people in order to make this virus run its course quicker is a sacrifice some people are unknowingly making. The planet needs less humans but this is nuts.
We have the same ratio of dumbasses to be sure but it is all really comical in a sad way.
