Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Today started with some last minute shopping where I went to get some additional items such as Fresh Norwegian salmon and a few other things.

Then was a few hours of cooking for the family gathering today. We didn't make any traditional turkey dishes as nobody is a fan of those in our family.

Instead we cooked steak and salmon on the grill as well as a few more dishes such as mashed potatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, Porcini mushrooms with bread and vegetables and dried cranberries and many other items.

It was nice to gather everyone together, even my father in law whom I picked up from the adult family home. We shared food, the latest happenings in our lives and in general had a really nice time together.

After the main course it was time for the traditional black tea with desert. Russians and Ukrainians both have this tradition to have a tea with cake after the big holiday meal.

Usually it would be a honey cake or Napoleon cake, but this time we had a Smetanic, which is a sour cream and honey doe based cake. It might sound strange, but it is actually really delicious.

We also had some other deserts that my brother in law and his girlfriend brought over, but I think those were more Asian American type stuff:

We also had some white and red wine with our steak and salmon. After the meal we also played Uno card game which made our daughter very happy.

There was also lots of fun time playing with my brothers in law dig and all the Alpacas as usual. It was a fun family get together.

But as all good things the family gathering today had to come to the end. My brother in law and his girlfriend took his mother to her condominium and I drove my father in law to his adult family home.

Then we had all the dirty dishes and cleaning up after the party and we finished the day watching a documentary on Netflix about how life developed on our planet. It is a pretty new documentary that was made in 2023 and is narrated by Morgan Freeman.

I like the documentary and it has some really striking and high quality visuals, I suspect that those were created with a help of AI generation.

We only made it through a few episodes, so we still have quite a bit to go through. Overall it was a great day and I really enjoyed it. And in all of this commotion I was able to get over ten thousand steps.

Now that we have my son's twenty fourth birthday and Thanksgiving behind us, it is time to prepare for the Christmas and New Year.

Tomorrow is Black Friday in America, but we will be staying away from the stores and shopping 😀
