A Day of AI at Work

Image upload seems to be broken in Actifit application today. Had a very busy day at work. First part of the day at work was dedicated to Artificial Intelligence meeting with Microsoft where they have updated us on the latest changes with GitHub Copilot and Agents.

It was actually pretty cool and is a much better approach than creating specifications for AI manually. I have done it a couple times and while it works, it takes longer and doesn't result in the same comprehensive results.

The demo was an actual application that team developed and it generated 85 files for an application that tracks various information technology assets via geospatial interface in various buildings and showing which floor and room the specific assets are located.

It also automatically generated over three hundred automated tests that test functionality and security of the application. The quality of the end product was better than anything I have seen from our teams or external vendors.

This truly a new age in software development and human coders are all already obsolete. The changes to an application are simply changes to the specifications and are performed with such speed and precision and software quality assurance that doing things the old way is simply no longer an option.

Software development is now all about precision specification writing. It is all zero code and all the code is generated by various LLMs.

Vibe coding is pretty much dead already unless you want a quick proof of concept on something that is small and easy to define.

I am kind of glad that I got promoted to a Solution Architect role last year as Software engineer is now partially a business analyst, partially a technical writer and partially an architect.

Coding language is also practically irrelevant as you don't need to learn it and most just need to be able to read it.

Tomorrow we are having an all day workshop on Artificial Intelligence. Since it is a Teams meeting our management made a sensible decision and let us work from home instead of coming to the office and sitting eight hours straight on an online meeting.
