I am thinking about restoring another car. Not done one for over a decade now. Thinking Toyota mr2 t bar 2.0t or mini (old one not new) or possibly a Ford xr or rs. Decisions decisions.

A mate of mine had a Toyota MR2 2l turbo went like stink but not the best at cornering. My standard 1100cc mini could keep up with it in the twisty stuff. Some people have been fitting bigger Toyota engines into the MR2 some fit V6 out of Camry's etc. I'd go a classic Mini myself with that choice of car's.
Only a few minis over here and badly rusted for around £1000.
Similar prices to here then. Sounds like the Fiat 126p in Australia very few and far between but always many classic mini's about.
