Actifit GLog (Garden Log) 17.05.2025

Yesterday was a busy day in the garden! I started by hauling five big bags of weeds and plant clippings to the compost area of our community garden. Right after emptying them, I filled up two more bags - this time from mowing the lawn and cutting back wild weeds.

It honestly feels like there's always something popping up that disrupts the growth of the plants I actually want. Every single day, something new appears that I’d rather not have around so out it goes. I’m not a huge stickler for gardening “rules,” but if something threatens the plants I love… well, I have to kill it!!!! Oops, getting a little carried away here lol

After tackling the lawn, I finally finished building the table for my potato pots. The wood had been cut weeks ago, but I got sidetracked by other projects.

The table still needs a coat of paint, but since it rained a bit yesterday and again last night, I skipped that step for now. The potato pots are still standing on the ground for the time being:

The reason for the table is pretty simple: snails. I’ll finish setting it up next week to make it harder for them to crawl up and munch on the potato leaves.

Once everything was done, I took a moment to relax and enjoy the view of my freshly mowed lawn. (I loooove that smell.) I suddenly remembered I hadn’t taken a photo of the three new raspberry plants I bought on Friday so here they are:

To wrap things up, here’s a look at the lawn area of my garden. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I’m still not 100% happy with the layout. The long cemented pathway is kind of a pain but it’s not something I can just remove easily.. So it limits my ability to create that cozy vibe I’m aiming for. But little by little, with each new bush, raised bed, or decorative touch, it’s starting to feel more and more like home.

You've got an enormous garden! Looking at it now, I can say that the layout looks good already, just a little re-arrangement perhaps for that 'cozy' vibes you've been wanting for. Just curious though, aside from potato and raspberries, do you plant other stuff as well? Vegetables or any other fruits? That will definitely be a great help especially if you love cooking.

Thank you so much for your words. Yeah I am going to make some more islands in the garden to create more "rooms" so to say. Will see what I can do and how it will turn out ^^ Also I am planing to create 2 small ponds for frogs and insects - nothing special but some space for them to enjoy my garden as well :)

Currently I grow tomatoes, (cannabis soon), spinach, broccoli, beans, cucumbers, zucchini, celery, many more berries, apples, cherries (usually with worms in them), and maybe some more when I enter the next gardening center and can not resist :D
