New Thoughts About Aging: How The Body Effects The Spirit And Vice Versa. [May.08.2020]🅰️🏅📕

Crossing the finish line after running 42 kilometres on the Great Wall Of China! [Time Stamp: May 2012 - 8 Years Ago]

Hi everybody! 🙌

Today was action packed and full to the brim! I tired to add in even more to this day but started to feel played out before long. To bad I ran out of jam! I’m close to the 30K mark today! Days like these that remind me of even harder ones like when I ran a marathon on the Great Wall of China in 2012! (But we will talk more about that as you read on!)

You know what... It’s interesting but I have found that when you focus in on activities that are good for the body you can feel the direct tug and strain on the spirit. Have you ever felt like giving up or quitting? That’s the tug on your spirit that I’m talking about here.

I was climbing some stairs (for the second time) today and feeling pretty darn tired... but it got me thinking about youth and vigour (and how much I LOVE stairs! Hahaha! 😅)

There’s a definite connection between the condition of the body and it’s effect on the spirit... and vice versa.

Let’s explore that some more and also factor in aging as well.

The condition of ones spiritual state most certainly effect the performance and capability of the body. Mentioned above quitting and giving up is an example of a negative draw down... but what about the positive? Is there any example of the spiritual state having a positive effect on the body?

In my experience it always seems to happen right AFTER I push through a wall of resistance. I call it hitting the wall on the Great Wall of China’s because that what happened to me! It wasn’t until I had exhausted every fibre of my being while running a marathon on the Great Wall. Bruce Lee calls this the, “Heavenly Glory” and I think I know why... there came a point during that marathon where I didn’t think I could take another step... but I continued on anyways! I recalled each one of my personal training clients and dedicated the next kilometre to them. I yelled and shouted to spur myself on. I thought about how good it was going to feel to cross the finish line! I spoke my mantra out loud to myself, “There’s nothing else I would rather be doing right now.” (Be Now right! That’s another one of my mantras!) And so I dug deep and kept putting one foot in front of the other until I crossed that finish line!

These were all examples of how I employed the my spirit to achieve the goal I had envisioned!

This also ties into general conditioning and the aging... especially when I consider that I ran that marathon on the Great Wall 8 years ago! (Man alive! Continuing to set big audacious goals like that one are incredibly important!)

I’ll explain.

Taking care of your Spirit Health Compounder means that your going to have more get up go when push comes to shove. Your going to have the reserves and resilience you need all rolled into one!

Just what you need when your doing the tough stuff right?

But what happens when your feeling tired, your body has some kilometres on it and your feeling old, worn out, and tired? What happens to your spirit then? It’s on long tiring days when I think about that...

Is this what it feels like to get old I wonder to myself...

When your body ages, when your tired and worn, when that neglect catches up with you... that’s when you need to double down and and tap back into your spiritual reserves.

Hopefully you have been investing in your spirit health compounder... it’s much like drawing water from a well! It’s life saving and even the substance of life! And you got to dig those wells before you need em right?!

So that’s where age factors into things and it’s why I believe in setting longevity goals... goals based on genetic age rather than chronological age.

So yeah! Sometimes, especially when you push your limits, it takes a certain amount of toughness and resolve that goes beyond the resources of the mind.

An ability to transcend the temporary discomfort of the moment. That’s where doing, consistently and mindfully, activities that compound the health of your spirit are so important.

It’s especially apparent when your feeling tired and drawn out... and maybe your feeling your age a bit! Those long days are when the tenacity of your spirit is developed, proven, and tested. It’s not when things are easy but when they are hard.

So test your resolve from time to time. Checking with your spirit can be a good thing to do. So to can intentionally pushing yourself outside of your physical comfort zone. That’s how to go about doing that... how to dig those wells before you need to draw from them. You push your body, your mind, and your spirit. And then you just listen...

It’s what’s going through your head in those moments that will tell you what you need to know and think about.

Harnessing your hidden latent potential is all about asking those harder self-searching questions... being willing to step into the gaps and act.

A couple more interesting things come into consideration once you factor in bodily aging to the connection of spirit and body or body and spirit...

The more ones body ages the more strain on the perseverance of ones spiritual state. Resolve gets tested and that threshold doesn’t seem to be nearly as high as it used to be even within the previous year especially if you let things slip and decline like many do over the winter months.

Age is felt when you don’t take care of yourself (Spirit, Mind, Body). Age becomes a chronological thing rather than a genetic one and that’s not good!

Your lifestyle and the cumulative effect of how you treat your body, mind, and spirit can draw down ones spiritual state translating into lower physical well-being...

BUT! If, like gravity, you make it a priority to fight back against aging then that’s going to give you the tail wind that you need to level up and beat the lag drag.

I really think that the spirit effects the body and the body effects the spirit... these two health compounders are indelibly interlinked.

Healthy wellbeing is all interconnected. You can’t have a healthy body with out having a healthy mind and a healthy spirit.

They all are significant to the maintenance of health and the elevation of the unstoppable undeniable human spirit.

So have I convinced you?

Now what are you going to do about it?!

Beautifully said! I 100% agree. But I’m always surprised at how many people do not consider the other health compounders (spirit, mind, and special focus) before heading into an intense program to develop their physical bodies!

Health is the integration and development of all 4 health compounders!

Thank you for reading and thank you for commenting! ❤️

Great stepping and congratulations on the automaticwin. Congratulations too on finishing that marathon those 8 years ago, that was really grueling and you definitely put your body, mind and spirit into it. That was amazing.
Excellent write up on the the mind/body connection too, they all work in tandem.
Considering that the body/organs rejuvenates itself in a matter of months then I think age is nothing but a number. And if you convince your mind that you are old then you get old and act old.
As for me I believe in giving the body and mind the right fuel by eating well, resting enough, meditating and exercising both body and brain optimally.
Wishing you a fabulous weekend ahead, enjoy your day and activities.

Thank you Eric!

You are RIGHT on about replenishing the body with anabolic activities. As well I completely agree... Think and act old and before you know it you are old. I'm so glad to hear how actively you pursue a healthy life! I think that's why we are friends.

Thanks as always for your comment Eric! You value my efforts and for that I'm grateful.

What do you think about a #VIPwatch challenge? People post pictures of themselves with their favorite celebrities here on Hive and Twitter. I think it might be good for getting more eyes on our Blockchain. The more eyes the better. 😄

This is a great message ❤ i enjoyed the post about your icon Arnold. I sure enjoyed the Terminator II movie growing up. Does he speak about his infidelity in his book? I might have it mixed up, but i feel like i recall something along those lines going down a few years ago. Congrats on your marathon! I did Victoria 2001. One and only! Keep up the great blogging & motivating. Congrats on your accomplishments ☀️

Yes. He does speak about the affair in his book. I think there's a part (perhaps between the lines) of Arnold that is torn up, sad, and regretful about it all. I don't think that his story is done being written yet... Not by a long shot. I hope that he is able to make things right in time. I wonder if one of the reasons he decided to write the book was to communicate his regrets to his wife and children...

How was the Victoria Marathon? I LOVE running at sea level! Alberta's high skies are great conditioning for running at lower altitudes. Better oxygen utilization! It feels like you could run forever and not get tired! 😊

You are absolutely right friend @wil.metcalfe the connection mind, body and spirit is very important for the human being. If we are connected we will feel better and as we feel better others will see us young and youth is related to vitality.

Hey @isabelpena!

I think, by your comment, that your someone who thinks about health the same way that I do. Rather than a one dimensional view it is a multi-dimensional view where all the aspects of health (spirit, mind, body, and special focus) combine together to create a state of over all well-being. Peak performance and vital health relies on the interconnection of all 4 health compounders!

Thank you for your comment! I have been a little behind with responses but I really do appreciate you taking the time to read and write to me! 😊
