Hi and good evening you all!

Today I would like to talk about motivation and how to get more of it. Way more!

We have all heard that setting goals is pretty important to getting healthy results right? Previously I have emphasized the importance of setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals... But now I would like to take it a step further.

Are you ready?!

So you set goals right? Get up early and go for a run or work out. Simple right? But what if it’s not... then what?

You see... most people have good intentions. They begin with optimism and enthusiasm... only to let that fire fizzle.

So maybe it’s not that simple after all...

But take heart! It actually is.

You need to engage your deeper resources. Your inner resolve. Your get up and go. Your intrinsic drive. In other words... your SPIRIT.

It’s not a hokey or holy thing by any stretch of the imagination though.

If you want to get the jump on getting the results you deserve... If you want to stay steady long enough to actually make moves happen... Then consider making a PROMISE rather than setting a goal.

A promise connects with your spirit... your inner resolve. A promise grounds you to what really moves you at a deep level.

And it does make a difference you know...

I’ll explain it using a relationship example.

So your getting married. It’s your special day and the time has come for you to say your vows to the woman or man of your dreams.

With passion and resolve you declare to the world that, “It is your goal not to sleep with anyone except your wife/husband until until death parts the two of you.”

No! No! No! That’s just not going to cut it right!? Those words simple do not convey the sincerity and sacred foundation that you would like to begin this marriage with.

A promise, you see, is far more meaningful... and when it comes to all types of action a promise always trumps a goal.

I’m not say it’s useless to set goals... what I am saying is it’s far more important to begin all journeys of the heart with a promise. Then and only then should goals come into play.

If more people could make promises to themselves to live healthy lifestyles the results would be truly inspirational!

You are right... Goals are tools of the mind that we use and they can be changed. Promises are the actually foundations that those goals are laid upon.

I have been doing a lifestyle assessment for myself. I'm not happy with my current COVID-19 lifestyle. I have decided to side step the excuses (that are all to easy to make these days) and make some promises to myself.

It's exciting and much better than being down about all the things we can no longer do... I think it's time to focus more on what we can do rather than what we can't.
