OFF THE BEATEN PATH: #TrailTreasure Hunt [May.29.2020]🅰️🏅💎
Venturing off the beaten path is what adventure is all about. An adventure begins in the heart.
Why is that?
Because an adventure is all about heading out into the unknown. It’s about going places you have never been and maybe even doing things you have never done! It’s about being willing to try a new path. Explore a new possibility... without the promise of anything other than the adventure in return!
It’s called an adventure because you put one foot in front of the other and you don’t know how it’s all going to end. Once you leave the treadmill behind... and the trail pulls you along.
It’s not like you can just get off at the nearest bus stop. Point A to point B on foot just isn’t like that... especially when you make the decision to go off the beaten path. You know... that worn rut of a road where everyone else wore their own way into the earth?
So there you are... Your treading your way along and what’s this!? Someone else has gone this way... and left behind a curious treasure!
It’s something unexpected and neat! Something that prompts you to wonder,
“Why and how did you get here!? Your so far from home and so out of place!”
So here’s a fun little challenge for you all! With this Carona Virus 🦠 all around make sure you disinfect/wash your hands with soap after picking up any unidentified or identifies object. Being safe rather than sorry has got to be front of mind these days!
I guess we get an adventure every time we step out of our house to hike. We are extremely lucky to live on an old logging road. All of the land is privately owned and most are 3-10 acre parcels. However, after you get to the top of the road, consisting of a series of rollercoaster type hills increasingly steep as you go up, you come to the end of the road and a branching out of driveways. One of the driveways branches into a trailhead. It takes you up a gravel narrow drive to an off grid cabin that is generally not occupied and then what we call the upper trail, which is a dirt path we literally keep clear by hiking it daily. On two differently owned private parcels of land, we have 24/7 access to the trail system. We have had and 'adventure' with a bear once; seen a couple of bobcats, and have either followed or been followed by a family of cougars in the snow! The deep forest is ever changing with each day and each season, and there's a ton of different insects and wildlife to keep you completely intrigued each time! We never know what we are going to find or see and we try to look for all of it. The best part too - we rarely pass another human being during our 6 mile hikes except on the road to get to the trail head. I probably won't find a treasure someone left behind, but I find daily treasures in the gifts of the deep forest. Thanks @wilmetcalfe for your article as it got me to thinking about how lucky we are! Wow! It sounds to me like you live in a wild wonder land @elisabethbit! With that much adventure around every curve and corner your sure to find some natural #TrailTreasure! I’m excited to see what you come up with! Honestly... it doesn’t have to be a big thing... even the smallest things hold wonder in them!

Great stepping and congratulations on your automaticwin. Congratulations are inorder too for your #TrailTreasure find. You are right, sometimes we walk right into something unusual. I will be on the look out during my adventure but mostly I walk the same neighborhood, road and park area. Lets see if I find any.
