Australian Health Insurance Fund to provide Rebate for Medicinal Marijuana

In a first for this country, Australian Health Insurance provider HIF, will provide rebate on scripts for medicinal marijuana. The company has partnered with West Australian company Little Green Pharma (LGP). LGP provides strictly controlled CBD and THC medical oil products to the medicinal cannabis industry.

Some patients in Australia are spending up to $600 a month on the prescriptions. Currently the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme does not cover any medicinal marijuana products and many users are resorting to the black market and importing products from the USA. This really does defeat the purpose of having legal medical marijuana in the country if people are still accessing unregulated black market sources as it is cheaper and easier to access. At some stage this country will need to come to the realisation that legalisation's benefits far outweigh the negatives.

These are not performance enhancing drugs but are vital for people with chronic illnesses and other ailments.

Time will tell.
