My Poker Journey Continues (2026-01-24)

A Nice Run Followed By Destruction
I had a nice run on the cash tables followed by destruction. I took 50 cents to a micro table and ran it up above $20 USD. I lost a little before leaving the table with some nice profit. I managed to turn $50 into $120 at the 25/50 NLH tables. Unfortunately I got bested at 25/50NLH later that same night. I'm playing a high variance style that allows me to run it up fast but comes with the same type of downward swings. So far in the last month since re-starting my poker journey I ran my bankroll from $0 to $100+ twice and $200+ once. Currently I'm sitting somewhere around $15USD with some sat tournaments yet to be played. Tomorrow I will be playing the final stage for a $109 ticket. For this specific sat I placed in 4 tournaments to make it to this point.
Tournament example of how I start my journey in these sats.

One more win for a $109 Ticket
Chips from the previous phased sat carried over to tomorrows game. Looks like we will be sitting with an average stack or slightly below at game time. Despite the average starting stack I like my chances in this specific sat tournament. I only need to place in the top 75 to win a $109 ticket. My poker skill-set seems to be well suited for games where the goal is survive to place verses tradition tournament play. While I enjoy the style I'm currently playing I will have to make some adjustments as to be more serious about building a sustainable bankroll that will lead to meaningful cashouts. Cashouts I intend on utilizing to build my Hive holdings. Holdings such as Hive Power, Hive Tokens, HBD, tokens found on TribalDex (powered by Hive-Engine).
This is the second stop in the sat tournament cycle I been playing. Place in this one to be entered in a third sat that offers a ticket ($109 but varies).

New Strategy Part 1
Aside from participating in a promo I won't be going near the cash tables until I build a sizable bankroll. I'll be sticking to sat tournaments and winning my way into any real money tournaments. I am going to come up with a small easily attainable number for cashing out. Example: once my bankroll hits $250 I will cashout $200. The remaining $50 will be seed money to rinse and repeat. I haven't decided on the exact cashout number yet. Since I won't be participating in cash games for awhile I don't need to hold much on the sites. This will allow me to create a poker bankroll outside of the sites wallets that I can dip into/ increase as time goes on. Once I get that bankroll to $XXXX I will go hunting for a site that will give me the best first deposit bonus/ make the deposit using the previously cashed-out funds and hit the cash tables to clear the deposit bonus.
Header for the final sat I'm playing tomorrow.

New Strategy Part 2
Keeping track of ones play is important for anyone who is serious about progressing in poker. For the most part I review my hands while I play. This helps with time restraints. I'm going to take it a step further and treat each site I play on as a separate bankroll. I'm going to continue my $0-$1000+ challenge but I will simultaneously make a small deposit on a secondary site to speed up my success rate. The deposit will be used for rebuys/addons in freebuy tournaments. Freebuy tournaments are tournaments that cost nothing to enter but after being knocked out they allow for a second+ chance for a set price. Addons are possible in the freebuys that I play that are worth 50X the starting stack. As you can imagine; switching to utilizing the addon is going to drastically increase my success rate in these micro sat tournaments. Addons are chips given to a player for a set price once the re-entry/rebuy period ends.
These two party sat tickets lead to the $109 sat I'm already in. I'll use them next week as the event they lead to takes place weekly. I utilized the $2.20 ticket as I created this post. Lost an all in with A 10 suited to K 10 off-suit.

Tracking Bankrolls
As stated above I'm going to treat each site as separate bankrolls. Since I'm going to implore a strategy that will have me cashing out amounts from each site I will need to properly track my success at each site. I will do that using the table below. Currently I'm playing poker from three different poker clients. Most my time is split between two but the third gives me daily freebies so I log in and utilize those freebies when I can. I haven't mentioned the sites I played on yet but I will in the future. I will also have a strategy that can be used to play for free and build a bankroll from it. Before I do that I need to build my Poker Forum. I haven't had much free time to do that. It's easy to play poker and multi-task other things. Same is true for creating a blog post. Building a forum however will require my full attention. I plan on putting aside a day next week to build the threads that allow posts to be created on forums. I'll likely use a free AI tool for images as placement holders. I'll put more permanent ones up once the site itself is fully built. I imagine that one full day of building will put a nice dent on what needs to be done.
Tracking My Poker Success
| Site | Bankroll | Cash Out |
|---|---|---|
| Site One | $18.36 | $0.00 |
| Site Two | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Site Three | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Site Four | -- | -- |
| Other | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Grand Total | $18.36 | $0.00 |
Too many zero's
There it is above. The table that will track my success. I think I will screenshot it and use it as my header in this post. There's allot of zeros in there. I suspect by this time next month there will be significantly less zero's on the above table. I am considering creating a secondary Hive account for all my poker tracking but for now we will post it here on the @rentmoney blog spot. I'll give more thought to such after I finish building the poker forum. That's it for today's post. We hope you enjoyed it. Example of the tournaments I'm currently playing. $1.10 buy in / top 25 win $11 ticket to a mega sat. The mega sat leads to a real money game.

Example of a freebuy tournament. No entry cost (1000 chips) / 11 cent rebuy (5000 chips) / 11 cent addon (50,000 Chips). Top 50 receive $1.10 sat ticket.

The sat that I'm registered for. Starting stack 491,880/ current average stack 503,770. Top 75 win a $109 ticket to play in a $80,000 GNTD tournament.

😂 🤣 😂
Splinterlands changed the graphics a few updates ago and It really frustrated me. I used to review my last battle while waiting for next battle. Now you don't see your last battle while waiting (without jumping around a couple of screens which gets exhausting because you have to be ready to jump to a battle if you match up and I eventually stop doing)
If you are playing from on a laptop or PC you could open two windows. One for reviewing previous battles and the other for battling. I sometimes have two Splinterlands windows open to do multi-tasking on rentals/ battling, ect. Good luck with your battles and rewards.
It's great that you're starting your own challenge too, I wish you every success.
However, we have different approaches to this. I will almost exclusively play at the cash game tables because I'm simply better there than in tournaments, and the variance isn't quite as high either.
My main goal is definitely to move up to the NL50 tables this year, but to do that I want to have a bankroll of $1,000.-
On Sundays, however, I've decided to always spend a day playing tournaments. I just hope I don't lose too much of what I've won in cash games before.
But maybe I'll get lucky and manage a deep run sometime, who knows?
I've already earned a $109 ticket with the Power Path promotions, and I still have three $55 step 4 tickets, so maybe I can use them to earn another $109 ticket.
I wish you continued success.

My prediction: You'll smash that goal and be at NL50 sooner than you think.
Tournaments:
I hear you. Variance is high. Eventually I'll work in some cash games. Good move with mixing some tournament play in with your cash play. It only takes one bink to create a very healthy bankroll. Great job with winning those tickets and good luck with them. The Power Path series is a good one. I'll eventually be in that player pool.
Just finished playing the below.
Second place freeroll win
2/956 participants

Prize: $2.20 ticket
congrats on the 2nd place freeroll win
Thanks!
That seems a great ROI to me! Keep it up!
Thanks and will do.
P.S.: Your TAG´s are missing a reference to poker. 😉
I realized that after I clicked post.
I meant to edit/ replace a tag with #poker but forgot to do so within my edits.
At that point I figured the missing #poker tag was just meant to be.
It is nice to see the progress you have on your poker journey
